Could someone, explain, really, why this, review, although quite detailed, has, to have, so, many, frigging commas, in it.

    I,d,o,n,’,t,k,n,o,w;

  3. Because she has something like Asperger’s syndrome and struggles to understand the mechanics of punctuation whilst obsessing on getting her views on her favourite subjects out there to be shared. Seriously. It’s a bit like pointing and laughing at a blind person because Ha Ha, They Still Can’t SEE!

  4. Who’s Marie Birch and after looking at Google, why is she posting under the name “Paul Guy”?

  5. ?Emohawk, Episode IV: Polymorph II, Red Dwarf, VI?

  6. It certainly owes.

To be honest, you’re right. It’s like a scab that I can’t stop picking, when she keeps putting her stuff out there – but there are worthier targets in the world. In my defence, at least it’s not vitriolic.

Someone else tell him. I’ve got gussets to scrub.

  9. It seems that the Puzzlebox Red Dwarf website will join the anals of unarchived sites that are gone forever :( But look on the bright side- it’s gone, buddy!

I got halfway through Tikka and got angry and closed the tab.

  10. I want to believe all that flagrant comma abuse and general torture of the English language is a referential nod to Rimmer’s problems with punctuation in “Waiting For God”.

In fact, that’s what I’m going to keep telling myself this is: one great big joke.

    Yup.

A joke. Comparatively clever one, in fact.

    Yes indeedy.

    That’s…that’s what that is, there.

  11. You actually want to know? Well, Marie Birch is a pseudonym, her real name is Lynne Guy. She posts under the name Paul because she uses her husband’s account. She has another pseudonym, Josie Pargery, which she tries to pass off as being someone else who is her friend, but the writing style is unmistakable. She used to go to Dimension Jump conventions and ask inappropriately long rambling questions of the guests, and she writes fan fiction which she posts to alt.tv.red-dwarf. Originally it was “The alternative Red Dwarf” which seemed to have no resemblence to Red Dwarf at all, instead being about princesses in big castles, and peer pressure had her eventually change it to the stuff she posts now. She’s a big fan of Craig Charles and reviews almost everything he does, and she helps out the fan community by pointing everyone at her output regularly.

    She’s harmless and incorrigable.

  12. > fan fiction […] Originally it was ?The alternative Red Dwarf? which seemed to have no resemblence to Red Dwarf at all, instead being about princesses in big castles,

What? Where? I want to read those…

  13. Um, cma… how do you know all this about her?

  14. G&T Admin

CMA used to be chairperson of the Fan Club back in the good old days, so she knows her fanbase. Also, I know that Marie/Lynne pesters James with lots of huge repetitive emails every now and then, so I assume she did the same to CMA.

  15. > CMA used to be chairperson of the Fan Club

Magazine editor, I think. Nick and then Steev were in the chair.

Gah, I was trying to remember which one it was, and eventually plumped for the wrongun.

    > plumped for the wrongun.

I’ve never heard it called THAT before (anal sex).

  18. The first time I read anything by her, I genuinely thought she was doing a brilliant satire on the “maybe they can give you a hand with your punctuation” gag.

  19. > Here?s a bit of her original story:

But that thing has *nothing* to do with Red Dwarf! At all!

(I know you mentioned that before but I’m still astonished how *nothing* it has to do with Dwarf. Duh bad English.)

  20. I think it did eventually have a tenuous connection in which Kryten appeared from nowhere and the prince turned out to be an alternate version of Lister. Or Rimmer. Or something…

  21. Definitely hypnotic, but not in the right way…

  22. Maybe she should do Simpsons fanfic where they are all basketball players or something.

  23. Basketball players in a ship prison?

  24. That would be rediculous, nobody would do that!

  25. I think I saw that on Futurama
