DwarfCast 40 – Dear Dave: Instant Reaction

DwarfCasts from Ganymede & Titan

It’s the 40th Dwarfcast, and the fifth of our live Series X Instant Reaction chinwags, lovingly made not-live and downloadable, with improved sound quality, but no improvement in any other branch of quality. This week, we’re talking about Dear Dave, and in keeping with the episode itself, we flit all over the place, cramming in as many topics as possible, without any satisfying conclusion. But excitingly, the entire G&T team are present for the first time this series – that’s Jonathan Capps, John Hoare, Tanya Jones, Danny Stephenson and Ian Symes – along with regular pod chum Jo Sharples of TORDFC and non-Dwarf fan, but interested observer, Julian Hazeldine. Controversial opening music from the live version not included, sadly.

Next week, we’ll be concluding our ill-judged experiment in live broadcasting with The Beginning, and we’ll probably have a LOT to say. We’ve also got a few bits and bobs planned to mark the occasion, so brace yourself for a long assed podcast this time next week. Just take the Friday off work. In the meantime, our written review of Dear Dave will (hopefully) turn up by the end of the weekend. We mean it this time.

  1. Whoop! Can’t wait to listen in! But I gotta wait till the WEEKEND before your review? Geez boys…you all got jobs or somethin? :-/

  2. That Kryten cleaning outtake sounds amazing. Can’t wait to see it!

  3. Haven’t listened yet. (Haven’t seen the episode yet.) But I just had to click the link yesterday when it was live, just so I could say I’d heard a bit of a live DwarfCast. I would just listen to the greeting and then close the window.

As it happens, I was treated to 10 minutes of Danny’s amazing and beautiful arrangements of various music cues and songs. Thus sated, I had no trouble turning off the DwarfCast and staying spoiler-free. Looking forward to it as always, though I doubt it’ll top what I heard yesterday!

I’m also really looking forward to this. There were some great smeg ups in the shows I saw filmed. Thoroughly looking forward to these ones. Wonder if there’ll be anything from the model shoot in there.

I don’t think they’d be able to put the entire weeks model shoots on the DVD

    Ooooooh.

  6. How does one type a mahusive frustrated screaming noise on the keyboard?????

  7. Hit caps lock, hold A for a second, then G, then R, then H.

Then watch as everyone gets pissed off with you.

i should clarify here, these aren’t *my* arrangements of themes, these are Goodall’s cues from the show and library music used for the show. I didn’t make these, i wish I had.

I have one piece of original music but that won’t last for 30 minutes. Although I am working on some re-arrangements that we may use in the future, but thank you for thinking they were mine!

  9. Guys,

By far the best DwarfCast I’ve ever heard. It was funny, lively and informative. Oh man, I’m looking forward to Thursday!

God I love you, G&T. I love you so much.

  10. God I love you, G&T. I love you so much.

    (keyboard clattering)

God I love you, Rimmer. I love you so much.

  11. I recognized some of the cues as Goodall’s, but I thought the ones I didn’t recognize were yours because I thought I had read something on Twitter about you creating some music cues for a DwarfCast.

I arranged the cleaning music from “Kryten” for violin and piano and hoped we could try it out at DJ, if I can go. Horribly, my laptop was recently stolen (password protected, fortunately) and I lost that arrangement. There’s plenty of time to rewrite it, of course, but I also lost my music writing software. So it may have to be hand-written parts.

  12. And I love you, Smegerama.

I’m printing this and framing it.

  13. And I love you, Smegerama.

    Do you love me?

God loves all His children. Maybe this time He is Smegerama instead of a skeet shooter in New Jersey. ;-)

What is this reference? Google is failing me on this one.

I love how Lister genuinely said ARGH! in Entangled.

    Dogma?

I’m glad to see somebody recognizes that I preside over all things. I was beginning to wonder if this whole omnipotent deity thing was worth it.

Long hours, low pay, very overrated job.

  19. The first dwarfcast of yours I’ve actually listened to in it’s entirety. Actually liked it apart from the regular dip in sound.

    … Thank you?

  21. I’d say the dips in sound were the best bits.
