As reported in our forum, and also elsewhere.
We’ll keep a look out - and if anyone captures anything they see, send it in or post a link in the comments…
UPDATE : Kryten, Rimmer and Cat. Thanks to the excellent jayj!
I’m guessing this’ll be more meta-stuff; a transmission direct to the people of Earth 2009. Hope it appears on youtube…

I’ve got a lovely little PVR which is able to tape hours and hours of stuff, so I’ll set it to record for the whole day, then see what I’ve got at the end of it, and upload after that.
Oooh, I’ve just saw one. Editing it now.

Surely only the music industry is stupid enough to take promotional material off a massively popular viral website that hosts it for free?
(Thanks, BTW :)

Wow. Just last night, I thought to myself, “Surely, they’re gonna start trailing the new Dave specials soon…”
When seeing that it makes me think of the Smeg-Ups reel and the CIN special, for the fact the crew tried to broadcast to Earth.
Anyway, wow. I know it doesn’t seem much but this is the first 2 seconds of new Dwarf footage (albeit for a trailer) in a decade (AFAIK). I only discovered RD in January of this year, but I’m just as excited as you all are!

I’ve just seen the Rimmer teaser, so in theory you should be able to see it in a hour on Dave ja vu - middle of Top Gear, the break after the Ascari lap time.

I saw one with the cat earlier during the ray mears programme, he says ‘impact april tenth!’

Breaking news, we can now confirm that Part One of Back To Earth involves an imp.

Got it. “Are you reading me?”

Oh my i’m so excited! You know what would be cool and would really pull in the viewers? If these random 3 second teasers popped up on ANY channel, impossible i know but that’d be super hardcore.

There is a Norm one. Just seen it. He says “let me in the show you bastards”
Not sure it’s official though. Hey there is a bald man stood outside my house with a TV jammmer.

Article updated - thanks, jayj! Keep ‘em coming in, folks.
Am I right in thinking that this is the first time official brand-new Red Dwarf material has been shown on British television since 1999?

> i wonder if these teasers will change over time and start to be more clearer
over the next few weeks they’ll give us more - a clear image and little more dialogue next, maybe, building up to a proper trailer in the week before

Ooh. The lad might’ve got a point there. Where would we be without saddo’s like us?

Just seen the Cat teaser on Dave - set timer for Dave ja vu in 1 hour - the break after Clarkson talks about his Ford GT.

Lister’s should be ‘the slime’s coming home’ or something. These look like they’ve been done specifically for a teaser and not as part of the episodes. Cool as.
Anyone notice that the first few frames of each one is the RD logo? (distorted, of course)
I was watching Dave before at about 2 and I didn’t see them, I wasn’t paying attention though I may have been playing Liverpool monopoly by then.
No Lister one (as one may assume) yet. Just Kryten, Cat and Rimmer repeated throughout the day. Is there any significance to that, I wonder. Or maybe the Lister tape is just lost in the post.

Have (hopefully) recorded Rimmer and Cat from Dave ja vu (following timings from you lovely people) on the HDD recorder - haven’t checked yet. Haven’t got Krytie yet - anyone care to give me a heads up when I can expect it? My mum’s in charge of the TV…

Random… I was watching Buzzcocks on Dave 2 mins ago as I opened this thread. I muted it to open the Kryten link, and literally as Youtube was still loading, the Kryten vid came on the TV! Co-inky-dinks.
Using my Sky+ I rewinded the vid and watched it in slo-mo… is it just me or is that Robert Llewellyn’s maskless face being distorted and mixed in with the masked face? It seems to alternate behind the two… if you squint hard enough.
Maybe I’m just seeing things… but just watched Cat’s video, and if you watch his hair it seems to alternate between Cat’s hair and grey (Danny?)…

Maybe they are trying to find Lister and that’s why there’s no clip of him. Or maybe Corrie won’t let him take part in promotion.

On the Rimmer teaser there is definitely a faint static image layered with the distorted one.

You will be able to see the Kryten one in the adverts of Nevermind The Buzzcocks on Dave plus 1 at about 10.15 which is in about 25 minutes after I posted this. Its just before one of those awful booze sponsor things.
For all those whi log in too late. Sorry I got your hopes up

It was at 22:10, I got down and turned on Dave ja vu, Never mind the Buzzcocks was on for 5 seconds and then lovely blury Kryten graced the screens, I almost missed it!
Ian, Cappsy and I have just finally got freeview to stop being shit and got a good signal on Dave ja vu. We just missed the last one but please shout out if there are any coming up, so far we’ve only seen the Kryten one on youtube. The Cat and Rimmer ones on my phone. It’s all very exciting tho :-) and typically when we have no home internet or reliable tv signal! Wah!

There was the Rimmer one about, what, ten, fifteen minutes ago? on Dave, which puts it at about ten to twelve on Dave ja vu.

Caught the Kryten one earlier whilst watching Buzzcocks. Not that exciting really, are they?

I do mate, as always. Not trying to make out other people wouldn’t be excited by these. But 2 second trailers? Doesn’t do much for me. 30 seconds? That’d be awesome.

thats what i thought the 1st time i saw the kryten vid .or maybe it is our minds playing tricks with us

I don’t think these two second trails are it you know. They’ll be part of a carefully orchestrated campaign. A sensible campaign. A campaign that will tax your ability to watch Top Gear to its very limits and stretch the sinews of your fandom to bursting point.
But the reason it’s exciting is that it’s new Dwarf, and it’s breaking the fourth wall. We know there is some form of meta element to the series. This is part of it. It may only be two seconds, but it’s the start of four weeks of build up to a television event many of us here have been waiting ten years for.
So don’t get excited if you don’t want to. True, on the surface these are nothing. But it’s happening. Dwarf is coming back. And there is plenty of reason to get excited.

Yay! Just caught the Rimmer one briefly on Dave ja vu. Only half caught it though the other half of my attention on my laptop. My first (outside of the youtube links here of course.) Nice to see em big on the box, even if it is just a bunch of coloured lines.
True, on the surface these are nothing. But it’s happening. Dwarf is coming back. And there is plenty of reason to get excited.
Exactly. The excitement is all in the context.

Hey! Hold your horses there - I never said I wasn’t excited. I’ve been waiting ten years too (been watching Red Dwarf since I was 9 years old) and I’m mega excited about what we’ll get on April 10th. I’m just trying to temper my excitement because I remember how excited I got from all the promo stuff for series VIII. It looked good, and Norman was back and Chris too…but then I saw the shows and felt so disappointed. I just don’t want to build my expectations that high again.

I’m still trying to catch the Kryten one, flicking between Dave and it’s echo like an idiot.

No TV signal? I sincerely hope you’ll have this sorted out for April 10th?

has any one seen a Lister teaser yet?

I imagine the screen will sort itself for the Lister one. It’ll be a progression of sorts methinks.

Surely Dave could be playing these a bit more. I watch Dave a lot and so far I’ve only seen the Rimmer one, and only once.

I sent Dave a message, suggesting that they should have their own channel on Youtube, so they could show us all of these ads and more exclusive bonus goodies as and when.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m under no illusion that they’ll listen to little old me, but I still think it’s a good idea.

… or alternatively, they’re realising how much of their work’s being done by the media without them having to spend a penny of their advertising budget just yet (or, even, they’re spending their advertising budget/time/effort on putting stories out in the media).
Come on, Dwarf is MASSIVELY in the public eye. Various newspaper and magazine stories (it was in the Metro this morning) are going to reach far more people than adverts on a channel that gets a couple of hundred thousand viewers at best.

Also, the level of interest shown in this by the media really does vindicate Dave’s decision to produce the show, doesn’t it? Whatever way you look at it, their ratings are going to go through the roof over easter.

This is a channel that mainly broadcasts repeats of Top Gear and other such twattery. What do you expect? It’s hardly Living, Yesterday or Smile TV FFS.

Recorded the whole of last night’s ep of Red Dwarf (The Last Day) on Dave, plus five minutes either side, using the not-improbable logic of ‘if anything Back to Earth related is going to be on, it’ll be during Red Dwarf’. Sure enough, Kryten popped up halfway through - hurrah! - so I’ve now got all three on my hard drive, and have edited them together (in the order Kryten, Rimmer, Cat). Full of glee now.

I’ve just seen the Kryten trailer on Dave (during Red Dwarf V - Demons & Angels), but it was less fuzzy and I’m sure he said something different (I think he mentioned Humans). Will have to check it out on Dave Ja Vu.
