me thinks Sonic CD can get a play.
I remember when the Mega CD was released and was on display in a “Rumbelows” shop window. I distinctly remember awing at the graphics every time i passed, but we never actually got a Mega CD, though. Fast forward a decade and some, and the Gems Collection came out for the PS2, I only owned an Xbox at teh time and was really pissed off that it never came out for it. Fast forward a few more years and I finally buy a PS2 (purely to play Guitar Hero :) ), but looking for other games I’d completely forgotten about the Gems Collection, and managed to buy it for a spritely £6.99 the other day. So that was a realisation of 16 years of waiting. I love it.

It is a good game and the time travel is realised well (though I did end up in a spike in the future, jumped out of it) but it isn’t as good as the later games, Sonic 2-Knuckles.
Fun Fact - Sonic 2 was originally to have the time travel element, the scrapped zone Dust Hill Zone was the present in a zone and another very early zone Rock Zone was to be the past.

I recently bought an XBox collection of the Sonic games. I need to finish certain games to unlock some (like Sonic CD and the ‘sonic 3/2 as knuckles’ mode)

I have the Windows port of Sonic Mega Collection Plus, which may the single worst PC compilation of Sonic games ever put together - stodgy control set-up, awfully bloated code… less than 100MB of Mega Drive games loaded onto a DVD-ROM, largely because the emulator was largely uncompressed and the frontends were all pre-rendered video. Fucking Sega.

Wow. It works great on the XBox.
Also: I love the title, I can just imagine a Japanese man shouting it in a commercial.

Sonic Mega Collection Plus, it doesn’t have Sonic CD on it, only Sonic Gems Collection does, I remember for a mate I said I would unlock some games on it for him and I tried for ages going on and off Sonic 3 and it didn’t unlock Sonic 3 and Knuckles, that twat goes on it once and unlocks it straight away.
Fun Fact - Sonic Mega Collection was meant to include Sonic CD but it couldn’t be ported properly, along with Sonic CD the game was meant to include the Sonic film which was taken off for unknown reasons..

Yes, we’re not *all* games geeks, you know.
Well, I’m not. Although that’s more to do with my epilepsy and not wanting to tempt fate.

Er, that’s not really the point I was making, though - people can post about whatever they want on here. I’m just saying, we’ve got a massive and huge series of Sonic articles running on NTS at the moment, discussing some of the very points that SoundableObject was making.

SEGA kind of shot themselves in the foot by releasing the Mega and Gems collection [of which I own both on my Gamecube, and the new Mega Drive Collection on the 360]. Before then Sonic’s 3D titles were getting a fair amount of praise. Both Sonic Adventure titles were rated well enough to purchase, and Sonic Heroes was an interesting [but not perfect] concept.
And then the discs full of his glory days as a side scroller were released, and people realised that since being 3D, he has become complete and utter shite. And then to try and solve this problem, SEGA decide to cover the hedgehog with gimmicks. If it’s not becoming a Werehog at night and losing his speed for brawling, it’s giving him a bloody big sword to drag alongside him. Sonic with s Sword? That’s as bad as Shadow with his flippin’ gun!!!
Nah… give me Mario slippin’ down an ice slide or floating through the galaxy any day. :P

Well while it is a gimmick it is a very good one, I actually prefer being the werehog than Sonic in Unleashed *goes back to Sonic Unleashed*

I have actually read some of the Sonic Adventures articles on NTS, I will give the latest two a read too.

I hope SEGA decides to just make 2d Sonic games on the Xbox live arcade and PSN. I think it’s the only way new Sonic games can work.

With all these Sonic games coming put they must be making a profit. I would like a Sonic 4 though, actually I would love it, make it under 16-bit restrictions, it would be great. Or they could do a Sonic 2 Uncut and include Hidden Palace Zone, Wood Zone, Dust Hill/Winter Zone and Genocide City Zone.

Well, there’s Sonic Rush unless Mega Man 9 inspires a Sonic the Hedgehog 5 type… thing.

I have just finished Sonic Unleashed, the last thing you need to do is tap “X” 60 times within 15 seconds or so, I nearly didn’t make it.

Dull to some, Interesting to me!! And Dare I say a few on this forum.
I was actually going to do this in order to make multi screen wallpapers, but it seems that some git has beaten me to it.
But they’re good. They’re very good!!
