It’s been a little while in the making but GameDigits have now returned with a pretty huge update for the Red Dwarf XI mobile game. Once again, I decided to record my attempt at a blind playthrough and my musings on the update in general.
All around the world, Red Dwarf fans have been on tenterhooks for the past seven days, desperately longing to find out the G&T team’s semi-retrospective thoughts on the second half of Series XI. Rejoice, because the moment you’ve been waiting for his finally here, as Cappsy, John, Tanya, Danny and Ian conclude their revisit by documenting their thoughts on Officer Rimmer, Krysis and Can of Worms, as well as touching on the DVD/Bluray release, conclusions on the series as a whole, and the forthcoming Series XII.
Prepare yourself for a damn good Rimming as we round up our immediate post-broadcast coverage of Officer Rimmer in our live reaction DwarfCast, presented to you here to be enjoyed at your leisure. Join Ian Symes, Jonathan Capps, Danny Stephenson, the Fan Club’s Jo Sharples as they thrash through the many talking points generated by the episode, and try to pick through the many and varied opinions generated. Oh, and we also have a massive moan about UKTV Play.
Hello to all you people who patiently wait for the proper broadcast each week. We’re sure you exist. 9pm (BST) tonight is the time and Dave is the channel for Officer Rimmer‘s official premiere. Afterwards, I’m afraid you have some catching up to do as we’ve been bollocking on about the episode in a variety of places and Tanya has laid out her more considered thoughts in her review.
Once the episode has aired we’ll be doing our level best to organise and present the vast variety of thoughts and opinions to you in our Live DwarfCast, starting at 10pm (BST) tonight. The countdown in the top right will end at 21:40 and be replaced with our live link so you have time to get settled in and listen to our pre-show music, and once we’re live and talking you can get your messages to us either by commenting here, chatting through the Spreaker page or by doing an tweet.
Now, those of you following our Dwarfcasts know that me and Series XI…well, we’ve had a bit of a tiff. Perhaps we haven’t quite seen eye to eye. Which made the prospect of me writing this review a little daunting. Imagine my relief, then, when Officer Rimmer ended up being very much my cup of Earl Grey. Well, at least most of it.
Well, what a surprise, Officer Rimmer is yet another example of an episode that has garnered somewhat split opinion since it was released online this morning, but the split may well be a lot more interesting than previous weeks by the very dint that this episode is undoubtedly unusual in many ways. Whether you like the places it goes is another matter entirely, but luckily we have our entire lives to debate to this one. In an episode crammed with points that require some talking, I’ve picked out some of the big ticket items.
Officer Rimmer will be strutting its way onto the interwebs at some point this very day, in which we’ll finally see Rimmer utterly failing to learn the lessons of Me2. If you want a comfy place to discuss the newest of new episodes then park yourself right here for the foreseeable future.
As is customary by this point, we’ll be publishing our big Talking Points for the episode this evening, and following up with a more in-depth Review in the coming days. Finally, we’ll be casting the pod that we broadcast LIVE last night discussing Give & Take. It also says here in my notes that Ian would like to thank everyone who listened live and joined in the discussion last night. It’s true, he really does care about you.
Ah, the BBFC, they’ve served us so well over the years, with episode title reveals and confirmations of DVD extras aplenty. As expected the forthcoming DVD and Bluray release has now been through classification and so all episodes and extras can be found on their website. I’ll be keeping this rundown spoiler neutral, although be warned that some of the BBFC’s notes might reveal details about the rudeness levels of future episodes.

Well, this is a relief. After almost a week of ignoring the massive elephant in the room (an elephant that is now back online), Red Dwarf XI‘s full episode list has been officially sent out into the wild. Episode titles, synopses, they’re all there. Despite the unfortunate early release, it’s nice to get this information in this way rather than the previous method of rooting through BBFC’s bins. So, let’s take a look, shall we? Read more →
