Ian’s Newsround – 19/08/05 News Posted by Ian Symes on 19th August 2005, 11:12 Just the one update this week. And all it is a BIG LIST OF ALL THE SERIES VII CONTENT. We already know about most of it, but it really hits home how excellent this set is going to be when you see it all in one article. Some things to note: Interesting set-up for the first two discs. I was a little confused about the episodes being split three:five at first, but it makes sense; each disc has essentially got seven episode-length things on it. Fuck me, I can’t wait for Identity Within. Excellent news about the inclusion of the links from Xtended and the Red Dwarf Night version of Smeg Ups. Although, it does pose the question of why don’t we have the links from the original videos, or indeed Patrick Stewart’s Red Dwarf Night bits. Possibly due to appearance fees for the latter? Burning Rubber will be set to Buck Rogers by Feeder. Erm, well, it mentions cars. It’s the kind of toilet Buck Rogers would have… i-in the 25th century. Two Dave Hollins sketches for the price of one! Bugger, it’s just occured that I’ll have to scour through *three* sets of menus to find easter eggs. 7th November is a long, long time away. No newsround next week, for obvious reasons. See you next week, (some) chaps!
>Burning Rubber will be set to Buck Rogers by Feeder. Erm, well, it mentions cars. It’s the kind of toilet Buck Rogers would have… i-in the 25th century. Woould Burn Baby Burn by Ash have been a more suitable choice then?
Two Dave Hollins sketches for the price of one! As was pointed out would be necessary by this very website, I believe. or indeed Patrick Stewart’s Red Dwarf Night bits. Possibly due to appearance fees for the latter? This is the guy that turns on to Red Dwarf and immediately considers calling his lawyer. OK, it’s probably a made up story, but I’d imagine the BBC only expected them to be shown once, and therefore only paid him for one broadcast. Why would they have considered them being repeated?
I’m pleased with Buck Roger as it is very good. I’m not holding out much hope for the featurette itself, though. Also, confirmation that the fan films are going to be on the same disk as the episodes! This means people who don’t bother with the normal extras disks (sad, lonely people) may just stumble across us. Marvellous.
> Also, confirmation that the fan films are going to be on the same disk as the episodes! Ellards posted this on BTLi pretty soon after the winners were announced. Not that anyone who isn’t a fan club member would know that, because the fan club would obviously suffer immensely is non-members went on a forum where the main topic of conversation at the moment is how great DJ is.
Aye, I had spotted teh Ellards mentioning that on BTLi. I just like confirmation. And, yes, BTLi should be free to everyone. Write to your local fan club representative if you agree.
Looking at that pic, that’s just too many people in the commentary booth! Good to see Norman back though, and sitting next to Danny so the banter (i.e. Danny taking the piss out of Norman) should be back. I’m looking forward to hearing what the cast think of VII and VIII.
> Is the Fan Club worth ?13 a year? It is if you go to DJ, as you get a tenner off as a member. So you’re basically getting BTL for ?3 a year.
> I’m pleased with Buck Roger as it is very good. I’m not holding out much hope for the featurette itself, though. Stuff! Crashing! It’ll probably be the best of the lot of the music featurettes. But then I’m a bit of a twat. I’ve just sat in my chair and giggled for an hour and a half at each Dalek blowing up in Rememberance.
