Anyone listening to 6Music today when they really should be DOING SOME WORK will be all too aware that Craig Charles is all set for a return to the station with his All New Funk & Soul Show.

This all seems to be news to the BBC web department, though, as at the time of writing there’s no indication of it on the 6Music site. Anywhere. So if anyone, such as myself, wishes to follow up their interest after hearing Craig’s advert for his return can swing for it, apparently.

Anyway, I think we can all agree this is excellent news and it’s great that Craig’s career is so obviously back on track after his recent drugs problems. What with this, his triumphant return to Dimension Jump and his complete rehab from drink and drug abuse, you could be forgiven for thinking he’s come out of this whole ordeal in a much better state than before The Mirror started digging up the shit.

Despite my built in aversion to all things Funk and Soul, I may just tune in to this this weekend. I may enjoy it and, as the man himself says, it’s “Brand Spanking!” and there’s nothing I like more than a grand spanking.

EDIT (02/11/06): Click here to listen to Craig’s trailer.

  • Ah, good, the website is now updated. I was obviously too swift for their puny, slow fingers.

  • They have also been running Series 5 of Robot Wars on one of the main Sky channels, no I don’t mean Challenge TV! If anything now he looks more like Lister than he did before. I have a massive amount of respect for the man, not that I didn’t before. But to come from such depths of crap, to where he is now, and in a relativley short time, is quite amazing…”What a Guy”

  • > Also, someone mentioned spanking?

And I’ve only just noticed that that my “clever” play on words doesn’t really work. Grand and brand AREN’T THE SAME WORD, and I failed to realise this.

  • >Despite my built in aversion to all things Funk and Soul, I may just tune in to this this weekend.

Try listening to ‘The Revolution Will Not be Televised’. It rocks, brother.

  • The comments are cracking up more. Good to see he’s back anyway. I can’t be smegged to retype what I just typed, like it was worth anything anyhow. I like how ‘crack’ is a category.

  • >And I’ve only just noticed that that my “clever” play on words doesn’t really work. Grand and brand AREN’T THE SAME WORD, and I failed to realise this.

Sure you’re not just trying to weasel out of the whole spanking thing?

  • > Sure you’re not just trying to weasel out of the whole spanking thing?

    Certainly not!

  • Booked it, packed it, fucked off (or whatever it is, I only like him when he does that guy in the wheelchair, whenever I see him in the street I shout ‘hey you, do that guy inth’wheelchair’ he cracks up every time. He never does it though, the bastard)

  • I don’t think I need to admit, but I’m not sorry (I mean that, as well) so just shove it, fuck off. Sayonara.

  • Peter Kay’s Brian Potter character from That Peter Kay Thing/Phoenix Nights/Max & Paddy is in a wheelchair.

  • But I thought this was about Craig Charles and his rising phoenix-like from the ashes of his own addiction and the (cunting) Mirror‘s smear campaign. (And spanking.) Not to impugn Peter Kay in the least, naturally…

Also, John, I realise you’re quite, quite swamped at the moment, so you don’t need to rush off and do anything right this minute; but whenever you have a bit of spare time on G&T, don’t forget to make sure I can post my article.

  • It’s definitely coming – but I had to put it aside because I’m desperately trying to get my web design business sorted out.

I’ll try and find time to get it working this weekend…

  • Ah Cappsy you know I’ll give you a spanking any time you like son ;)

The above news is pleasing, despite the fact I’ve never actually listened in. I’m more of an Moyles/TalkSport/Iain Lee/LBC fan when it comes to radio.

*clears diary* – Whenever’s best for you, then! ;p

    Ah, you prefer rubbish radio.

  • > Anything for a fellow member of the JKC consortium Jon.

    *performs the special JKC handshake*
