Howard Goodall Roundup News Posted by John Hoare on 17th October 2006, 01:58 Firstly, and probably most interestingly for us lot: Howard’s new series, How Music Works, will be broadcast on Channel 4 from Saturday 11th November for four weeks. I must make sure to remember it’s actually on this time, as I’ve got an awful habit of telling you lot and then forgetting myself. It sounds ridiculously interesting even from just the three word title. He’s also got a new CD out – Winter Lullabies – “gentle, approachable music for winter and Christmas, sung by the heavenly boys’ voices of Christ Church cathedral choir”. I suspect it sounds rather better than it the description. It will receive its live premiere at St John’s Smith Square on December 13th. He’s also up to a few other things as well, which I’ll just quote from his news page, as it’s 2:58 at night, and if I try and rewrite his news page any more I’ll slit my throat: Howard is once again co-presenting the Music for Youth Schools’ Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, November 13-15th, is chief juror for the forthcoming BBC Choir of the Year finals and is presenting the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year from Westminster Abbey on Saturday October 28th. What a busy chap he is.
I fucking love Howard Goodall. His show on The Beatles was one of the best factual shows I’ve ever seen. In fact, now’s as good a time as any to remind people of a couple of interviews with Howard from way back when: Garbage World interview. The White Hole interview.
Howard Goodall is a musical influence, and fucking icon to me. I can’t wait for this series to start up, I shall definitely be watching. Incidentally, does Howard ever attend BTL?
God, those Goodall interviews are about two and a half years old now. It seems like it was just yesterday! Oh, and that Goodall piece on The Beatles was just about the best thing ever. Goodall + The Beatles = fried gold.
> God, those Goodall interviews are about two and a half years old now. It seems like it was just yesterday! That was quite amusing, actually. Didn’t we both send in question att he same time without being aware of it? I’m still impressed he got back to both of us. Shame the joint Chris Barrie interview didn’t come off, mind.
