Finally, via Robert’s Twitter, confirmation of a couple of upcoming TV appearances. Robert Llewellyn will appear on BBC Breakfast tomorrow, Wednesday 8th April. Not sure when, exactly, so the show is on BBC ONE between 6:00am and 9:15am. We recommend you watch the entire three and a quarter hours, and suffer the consequences.

Robert will also be appearing on ITV1‘s appallingly shit Loose Women, this time joined by Danny John-Jules. This abomination will be broadcast on Thursday, 9th April between 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

In 42 minutes time, there will be exactly three days to go…

  • I would start watching Breakfast from about 8:35 onwards, though I think it will probably be at 9.

  • I’d watch BBC Breakfast before work tomorrow, but not only does watching it sap my soul of all its joy but I just know that the interview with Bobby will be cringe worthy. The presenters won’t know what the fuck they’re on about and Bobby will just look utterly perplexed!!

  • > We love Red Dwarf. We can?t stand Loose Stools.

But which is better? There’s only one way to find out…weep until you curl into an uncontrollable mess.

  • I’ve seen Bill Turnbull on breakfast enough times to think that he’s as close to a real life Alan Partridge that we’ll get.

  • I bloody love Bill Turnbull. He’s very entertaining, which is just what I need at that time of the morning – and yet I do think he does the serious news well too. When him and Sian present together, it’s especially great.

But even I’ll admit that he can embarrass himself in entertainment interviews…

  • > I?ve seen Bill Turnbull on breakfast enough times to think that he?s as close to a real life Alan Partridge that we?ll get.

I think the Piers Morgan interview proved once and for all that Richard Madeley firmly holds that title. He’s like a spoof…person.

  • Yeah, it’s going to be after the News 24* simulcast ends at 0830, even if the precise time may vary.

    *Yes, I know

  • He’ll be on at 9:05am.

They just showed a previously unseen clip of Back to Earth.

Lister, Cat and Kryten are in a diving bell, being attacked by the Leviathan. All hell is breaking loose.

Whilst this is happening, Rimmer (who is apparently elsewhere and supposed to be monitoring the situation on CCTV cameras) is completely oblivious as he is dancing to easy listening music with his eyes closed.

It’s the first thing I’ve seen from the specials that is honestly and genuinely hilarious.

  • I saw this and as I posted on the forum this must be why he says “you could’ve got us all killed”

Also Danny and Chris will be with him (-via Twitter)

  • It’s on at 8.50 – I’ve asked my son to record this, but I won’t be able to upload until I get home from work tonight.

  • To my astonishment, ‘Dave Hollins – Space Cadet’ just got a mention. Looks like it’s going to be on soon.

  • I can’t see any new viewers being pulled into this after that round-up of the show’s set-up…

  • The guy presenter is a bit condescending. I sensed a slight ‘who are the freaks that watch this’ vibe from him. But loved the clips.

Looking at the clips there’s definitely a ‘comedy drama’ feel to it, rather than sitcom. Which I think, given Last Human, suits Doug much better. So it bodes well.

  • I’ll put it on sharebee first as youtube always takes a little while. Should be done in 30 mins tops.

  • PS Was the clip of Rimmer dancing hilarious? In some respects it seemed a kind of obvious, unrealistic gag (even given Red Dwarf’s unrealistic nature).

In other respects though, I definitely laughed. So it was probably funny.

  • i dont know how i feel about the crew seeking the writer in order to give them a good ending… sounds very silly :(

i think the look of the new shows is quite dark in quality, gives me a series 5 vibe

  • >Was the clip of Rimmer dancing hilarious? In some respects it seemed a kind of obvious, unrealistic gag

Overdone. Nothing wrong with it in concept, just execution. Chris mugged it up far too much.

  • I?m getting more of a VII vibe

Am I the only one who finds that disconcerting? Series VII is, by and large, AWFUL.

  • It’s 756 times better than VIII.

So, while this may be lesser Dwarf, at least it wont make me want to gouge out both of my eyes.

  • In my opinion, VII isn’t THAT bad. It’s not of series V/VI calibre, but it’s got its moments.

Can’t wait to see the new clips. Being a lazy bastard I didn’t get up in time to watch Breakfast.

  • Am I the only one who finds that disconcerting? Series VII is, by and large, AWFUL.

    Yes. It wasn’t.

There isn’t any need for any comparison to any other Series. Watch it, and take it at face value. It’s new!

  • Well I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m not expecting this to be classic or even very funny Dwarf; I’ll just be enjoying it as a nostalgia kick. At least they’ve gone for the classic series 3/4/5 line-up and formula; if it were something of a series 8 shake-up I really wouldn’t be as interested because I know it probably won’t be all that funny and won’t be Dwarf as I fondly remember.

  • the fear of bringing red dwarf back for me was that the cast would overact ther stuff to seem more funnier, and tbh chris barrie has seemed over excited about the idea of playing rimmer since series 8 :P

  • , I want new clip! Is it on youtube yet?

Doing it now but it’s being a cunt and taking an age.

  • Both clips – especially the first one – were great. Can’t wait til Friday.

Shame about the actual interview, which wasn’t really that good…

  • Barrie was definitely not overplaying that bit in the CCTV thing. Loved it.
Clich? comedy situation but seems like exactly the kind of thing that would happen to the Dwarfers.

  • One thing I noticed about Katarina’s arrival…

EDIT- I’ve copied my comments to another thread here as it’s more suited.

  • >Barrie was definitely not overplaying that bit in the CCTV thing.

    Oh, Ok. That settles it.

  • “Whilst this is happening, Rimmer (who is apparently elsewhere and supposed to be monitoring the situation on CCTV cameras) is completely oblivious as he is dancing to easy listening music with his eyes closed.”

Just reading this made me laugh hysterically.

  • Wasn’t too bad. According to Danny, Paul Jackson was at the premiere. New clip, kinda similar to what we’ve already seen, but pretty good all the same.

    Great stuff.

  • Didn’t think that was TOO bad. Better than the interview on Breakfast yesterday at any rate. The squid looked a bit…pink and shiny. Not the best example of the FX that we have seen but still acceptable. And Cat looking for the squid out the window whilst the others where being attacked by it was very true to the kind of thing they’d have done in series 3 and 4.

  • “Danny, you play The Cat…It’s not a real Cat, is it?” “Is he (The Cat!) a robot?”

Not seen all of it yet, but that was awful.

  • What’s annoying on these interviews is that they take the line that the show will be something new to people, that it’s entire audience consists of 12 people in a mudhut in Aberystwyth. You wouldn’t do an interview with Ricky Gervais and waste time explaining what his role entails, but every bloody interview to do with RD takes this approach of mind-numbing ignorance.

  • >?Danny, you play The Cat?It?s not a real Cat, is it?? ?Is he (The Cat!) a robot??

What, surely you don’t expect them to take 2 minutes to research their interviews?
