Can’t Smeg Won’t Smeg has its amusing moments but it still seems like a bizarre program to have been made. I can’t think of that many instances where actors have been asked to ad-lib as their sitcom characters like this. If the actors had just appeared as themselves then it might have been a bit more dignified. If the cast were asked to do something similar again now then I don’t think that I could watch it due to the cringe factor. On a barely related note, I watched Universe Challenge again recently and that’s also a mixture of the entertaining and the forgettable. If it had been cast versus crew then that might have been more interesting than having the fans there.
The oddest thing about watching Universe Challenge is that NONE of those fans have ANYTHING to do with fandom any more. They clearly should have had Andrew on it instead.
