Some breaking news for you – a message has been released by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor. Yes, both of them. Together.

To fans, cast and crew and everything in between, a very smeggy 35th birthday. Fingers crossed for more. Much love Rob and Doug

There is certainly a lot to discuss, so head on over to our Coral Canvass Livestream Spectacular right now, for all the reaction to this and today’s poll results, plus a lovely game of the wholly original Red Dwarf quiz Clochebusters!

  • Been through some of the worst moments of my life lately, but this cheered me right up and I’m off to bed with a smile on my face, so thanks so much for that. A lovely evening, and now I’ve heard my real name as well as my username on a Dwarfcast, which is a bonus.

  • Pleasant surprise to see a joint statement from Rob and Doug, will refrain from reading too much into it but keeps the flame of hope alive.

  • Great livestream. I had to go back and enjoy all those “secret files” gags, very good. And I eagerly await the future Wafflemen segments after this successful mining expedition.

Clochebusters was a winner for sure, and I’m interested in hearing the unused music. I did think the “F” question was unfairly worded, but maybe Niki buzzed in too early for it to become a controversy.

I’m still in disbelief that we got an actual glimmer of hope about the future of Red Dwarf today. Unreal.

  • I’ve lost me P please, Bob.

The formatting of Quinn’s name is wrong.

I am quite annoyed the boards weren’t set up for a P to be in the line of fire

And I was also curious whether they would format my name Q U I N N … but then its only that way because Ian changed it based on a minor complaint I had about formatting after the site updated

Not that we went over all the rules, but by the rules of the original show all answers should only be one word, except of course in the gold run.  Had Niki known I’m sure he’d have just said football

That said, the next question had the answer Lady Garden so G&T weren’t following the rules strictly so it was worth a punt on Niki’s part.

I am familiar with the works of Ganymede & Titan.

Wish I hadn’t understood the Maths in the Red reference in the waffles though!

  • Boards were randomly generated each time, we were also disappointed that nobody asked for a P, and I’m pretty sure we didn’t get anyone taking an E either. For the record, we wrote 254 questions for this thing – minimum of nine per letter, so that we’d have options if the contestants got multiple questions wrong. Bloody waste of time, those pricks were too good.

I’ve always thought “ladygarden” was one word, but it seems from Googling that I’m wrong. Oh well.

We clearly need more editions of Clochebusters to use them all up.

I did think it was one word but according to Smegadrive it is “lady garden”.

I’d love to see the rest of the questions (unless you’re planning on using them again in future).

  • Wow, OK, with that many questions, the Klumpp/Keegan (Zero-Gee) Football confusion is probably forgivable! I’ve just spent too much time thinking about Joe Klumpp to be honest.

  • Oh shit, you’re right! Well, it’s a good job Niki got the wrong answer out of the way before the second of half of the question was read out.

  • Let’s see if we can work out some of the Gold Run clues.

I can see ‘Rimmer’s Space Mistress’ and ‘Where Rimmer desperately wants to go, lickety-split’

  • Top Row: Who spontaneously combusted in Confidence and Paranoia?, Where does Rimmer want to go, career wise?, Not sure about QFH, Who created Kryten?, Something about Kill Crazy I’d imagine.

  • I second seeing the rest of the questions unless you plan to do more Clochebusters (I’m willing to defend my title)

Some sort of online quiz using them would be quite cool

  • Q: Which YTT was the name of a Red Dwarf spin-off series pitched by Big Finish, but ultimately rejected by Grant Naylor Productions?

    A: Young Taiwan Tony.

  • Craig just now on his radio show about how he went to the doctor’s this morning for a chest X-ray and he asked him after if he was going to do any more Red Dwarfs.

“We’ve been talking about it actually just recently”

*Looks at X-Rays* “Well you better hurry up”

“I just hope he was only joking!”

  • I would be interested in knowing in what your scope was for the questions.  After the game Niki, Jason and myself were talking and the ones we had all seemed to be entire TV show based.  There was no obscure behind the scenes questions or things based on novels etc.  Did you stick entirely to within the show or was it just a fluke we didn’t get anything beyond those?

  • QFH – Who did Holly pretend to be as an April, May, June, July and August Fool?

    Oh, of course!

  • I’m guessing AA is Aigburth Arms.

Or a trick question about which breakdown service they call for Starbug.

  • We probably had a majority of TV-based ones, but there were nicher ones, you just got lucky!

Luck had nothing to do with it … it was the sabotage to Jason’s buzzer that got me through …..

    I’ve said too much!

  • Great work all around, and congrats on your Clochebusters victory Quinn (and Niki of course). I definitely think there’s room for more busting of cloches in all of our lives!

Scrolling through the YouTube chat it seems like there’s a good number of new waffle questions you didn’t have time for on the night so that’s a nice bonus as well

  • We’ve now added chapter points to the VOD version of the livestream, so that’ll make it easier for people to catchup. Chat Replay is now working again too, for the full experience.

We’ll do a proper post for the thing tomorrow, sleepy now.
