This very website is featured in top Red Dwarf publication Better Than Life, in #44 that reached fan club members in the UK this morning. Internet Correspondant Debs gives the site four stars overall, and particularly praises the originality and in-depth content, adding: “if you have a list of Red Dwarf sites that you visit regularly, I definately recommend that you add this one to your list”. Incidentally, in case you were wondering why updates have been irregular and sparse since the Series II DVD release, it’s because the site is soon to be relaunched, in collaboration with John Hoare, who some of you may know as ‘moss’. If John knows nothing else, (which he doesn’t), it’s Red Dwarf and computers, so exciting times are ahead for Ganymede & Titan fans!

“Red Dwarf the movie is set in the distant future where Homo Sapienoids – a fearsome combination of flesh and machine – have taken over the Solar System and almost wiped out the human race. The only survivors are the crews of long-haul space freighters that left Earth before the conflict began. The Sapienoids send forth fleets of Death Ships to hunt them down.

One by one, the human ships fall, until only one remains.

Frankly, I’ll believe it when I see it. If this is genuine, it’s a bit of a shock. What Doug Naylor is doing is taking the characters and placing them in a completely new situation. This will work if the characterisation is as good as it is from Series I-VI, but if it is like the last two series, it won’t be Red Dwarf at all. Naylor did warn us that the movie would be going in a completely different direction to the series. He wasn’t lying.

But is it just a very elaborate hoax?

* ‘Winchester Films presents…’ – The official site says the movie is to be made by Red Dwarf Films
* ‘KOCHANSKI: Lister’s dead girlfriend.’ How would this fit in with the new plot?
* Doug Naylor is stated as being the TV series director. While he did co-direct half an episode in Series V, this is not something you’d put on a poster.
* Chris Barrie has Blackadder III in the brackets after his name. Why would they include a tiny guest appearance, but not long-running series like The Brittas Empire, Robot Wars and Scrapheap?
* The fan club bit gives the wrong URL. The address changed about a year ago – there’s no way a poster that old would have only just been released.
* I can’t read much of the other stuff, but I can see that the release date of the American DVDs is wrong.

Whether this poster is genuine or not, this is a startling piece of news, and once again Ganymede and Titan is the first fan site to report it.

A mere 16 days to go until the Series II DVD is released, and we’re still getting very exciting news through about the extras. The official site has a list of the deleted scenes . They sound brilliant, and I am now pants-wettingly excited about the DVD.

I managed to regain my composure in time to write the Balance of Power capsule . I’ve also written an article for the recently re-launched Back in the Red . I suggest you have a goosey.

Two updates in as many weeks. You lucky, lucky people. If you look to your left, you will see the Series II bunkroom menu. Nice, isn’t it? The drive room menu is another matter, but more about that on the 10th February.

This week I’ve been working hard on the capsules, with The End and Future Echoes being completely finished and a new index system. I’ve also corrected an embarrassing mistake on the commentary page. Thanks to moss for his pedantry skills.

Hello! Apologies for the lack of updates recently. I am a lazy fucker. Still, never to mind. All the archived DVD news can be found over at the official site. They still don’t have a DVD review as good as my one though.

In other news, I have written a companion to the Drunk featurette, given a list ofCast Commentary Corrections and written three mini-reviews.

I’d like to recommend two excellent sites. Firstly, my good pal Moss has written a companion to the model shots from the Series I DVD. It’s brilliant and has some great screen-grabs. Secondly, premiere Red Dwarf site Groovetown is continuing to go from strength to strength. It’s the best place around for news on Red Dwarf stars and what they’re up to now.
