    http://www.chrisbarrie.co.uk/

He mentions the weather, tanks, and his dislike of people requesting his appearance on podcasts; but he also included this tidbit on future Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire:

“At the risk of repeating something I seem to have said many times over the last umpteen years, I simply do not know if/when we will be doing more Red Dwarf. Over the winter of 2015/16 when we made series 11 and 12, some common sense momentum seemed to be building, but, since then, the project seems to have juddered to a halt. In the desert of silence I do encounter the occasional droplet of positivity but that’s it. If the droplet ever becomes a trickle, I shall of course leap to the keyboard and let you know.

The Brittas position is not dissimilar. Since the promising newspaper articles of a couple of years ago and the enthusiasm of the Reunion last year, it all seems to have gone all quiet on the Whitbury front. All I can do is continue to express my desire to recreate the chainsaw voiced ogre and that is something I shall certainly keep doing.”

Thanks to Chris Barrie Fans for making this known on Twitter.

I think of Trudeau the way that other countries probably look at Starmer. “They’re doing ok. Could be a lot worse!”. So I entirely take your point!

The weird thing is he’s arguably to the left of Starmer. He increased our child benefit (before having to rely on the NDP for support in parliament).

Apologies for the fright that replying here apparently elicits, but I just wanted to say that “Chris Barrie has updated his website” has brought yet another new user to the site. I was looking yesterday for more specifics on Barrie’s unfortunate smeghead tendencies, found this thread and read through all 28 pages in hysterics. The disappointment of realising the full extent to which Barrie has gone off his rocker has been more than compensated for by the sexy details et al. Not that I would have thought I had a sense of humour so easily tickled as to be moved to tears by sexy details. All rather worrying frankly…

Looking back, it’s 3 years today (or at least when it was first noticed) since the globalist psychopath update that launched a thousand memes.

For those of you who have the time…is it possible to date when the first unhinged utterings were typed by Chris? And when did the first utterly crazy you-can-never-come-back-from-this stuff start?

    Just curious!

Oh wow, I’d forgotten that I was the one who first drew attention to the derangement on here. (Although it was Stephen Abootman who notified us there had been an update, of course.)

The Wayback Machine shows his New Year’s update still being there on May 8th too, so we know for a fact that it was between May 8th and May 12th that he started ranting about “globalist psychopaths”.

It was about a fortnight after I got Long Covid, so seeing the thinly veiled Covid scepticism in it immediately pushed him into the ‘no coming back from this shit’ box for me, sadly.

Given that about half of people with Long Covid meet the diagnostic criteria for ME (unsurprising since ME is most often postviral) it’s very ironic that the 12th May is International ME Awareness Day.  Talk about a slap in the face!

That’s right off at the deep end, isn’t it? So not even an inkling that this was coming, was there?

I spent a lot of time listening to the DVD commentaries the other year. Robert is eminently cancellable given how he speaks about, and seems to act around women. Craig has had issues that could be described as similar. And seems to have it in for the LGBTQI+ community at that stage. Danny’s really annoying. At length. And there’s the refuse collector story, too.

Chris, meanwhile, is calm, quite funny, avoids punching down, and seems very respectful of people he’s worked with.

Funny how things change, isn’t it?

I think there were some warning signs, but I can’t quite remember what they were. I do recall discussing it at the last DJ, which was September 2021, after he made some vague comments during his Zoom Q&A, whilst wearing a hoodie that might have been a coded message, in retrospect. At that stage it was just mild concern that he may have fallen down a rabbit hole, which just goes to show how quickly these things can escalate.

Thanks for that. Bizarre. I’ve looked online with all sorts of search prompts and not found anything resembling that hoodie. Chris isn’t usually a hoodie-guy is he?

Any memory of what the rest of the words on it were? I can’t work out where the thought bubble is emanating from.

What’s the coded message if it is one?

He made a couple of remarks in the Brittas Empire online event that didn’t sit well with me (I’d have to go digging to try and find out when that was, maybe 2021), something about ticking boxes in response to a question about Brittas today, but it certainly didn’t strike me as anything other than bog standard older-person-listening-to-the-government’s-views, not great but certainly nothing alarming.  And I doubt anyone would have seen it as an indication of what later ensued.

    #306066

“Think” feels very much like a “critical thinking”/“think for yourself”/“don’t be one of the sheeple” thing. In another context it might not, but given that he’s gone down that line of things it looks much worse.

It’s insane that it’s taken 28 pages to get to the crux of his argument and to make it so succinctly. Well done. I think you’ve won the thread.

Petition to infect Chris with the woke mind virus. I don’t know, get a lesbian to sneeze on him.

    I’ll get my shoes.
