He mentions the weather, tanks, and his dislike of people requesting his appearance on podcasts; but he also included this tidbit on future Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire:

“At the risk of repeating something I seem to have said many times over the last umpteen years, I simply do not know if/when we will be doing more Red Dwarf. Over the winter of 2015/16 when we made series 11 and 12, some common sense momentum seemed to be building, but, since then, the project seems to have juddered to a halt. In the desert of silence I do encounter the occasional droplet of positivity but that’s it. If the droplet ever becomes a trickle, I shall of course leap to the keyboard and let you know.

The Brittas position is not dissimilar. Since the promising newspaper articles of a couple of years ago and the enthusiasm of the Reunion last year, it all seems to have gone all quiet on the Whitbury front. All I can do is continue to express my desire to recreate the chainsaw voiced ogre and that is something I shall certainly keep doing.”

Away from the happy, positive world of Comic Cons, you may have noticed that, as far as the ‘national’ picture is concerned, the cost of living continues to soar while our alleged parliamentarians (they are not leaders, but merely administrators working to a destructive global agenda) are as usual hellbent on looking after themselves instead of the suffering public. But now the Insane-o-Meter is off the scale. With the appointment of the most recent ‘new prime minister’, I thought we had reached rock bottom. But now the insanity is drilling into the rock and seems to know no bounds, because, as I write this, the previous ‘new prime minister’, yes, the self-serving potato of little or no truth, has put himself up to be the new ‘new prime minister’. I was watching some old clips of the Channel 5 baseball show, and according to the host in this clip, assuming I didn’t mishear, Chris Barrie came on the show in 2006. Now, I’ve done a quick Google search and there was nothing about it on here – but is this true? Is Old Ironballs himself a baseball fan?

Serious query, obviously people have their views, whatever they may be, and no matter how unsavoury, but when you’re booking people to attend events and they’re going to be meeting people who will disagree (some potentially strongly enough to have a word), and who are the people the celebrity is moaning about on their website (say, people taking covid precautions), would this not make you think twice about booking that person?

You have to admire his dedication to updating g and refreshing the rant.

To your point Glen, it’s tricky isn’t it. I’d suggest though that Chris is professional enough to know to keep that stuff to his website and not use an even he has been hired to attend to as a platform for it. 

Though is someone were to approach him about it that might make it a difficult situation. But then I’d have to question the motives of a fan deliberately causing a scene too. 

Unless Chris transitions to Kanye levels of insanity then I don’t think there should be anything to worry about.

That is an interesting point.  Casual Dwarf fans don’t seem to be reading it, and I briefly saw a Barrie fan trying to defend him when he first started this (I noped right out of there) so clearly some people are reading, but likely not all that many, and some of them may somehow not even be concerned by it.

In terms of whether he’ll be booked, for cons and stuff unless the bookers read what he’s written, may not be a problem.  And if the attendees on the whole either don’t know or know but don’t care, again probably not a problem.

In terms of whether the Dwarfers would want to work with him, I’m not going to speculate.
The one thing I do know is that I would find it hard to watch if he didn’t appear to realise he was mistaken, but other people are probably more able to separate the art from the artist anyway – and again, casual fans may not even be aware at all.

Even if he doesn’t speak it on stage or to fans, its public because he’s posted it on his website. Unless he’s actually a massive idiot and has no understanding of what the words he’s using mean or he changes his world view in short order then I think the fan club have got a difficult decision coming for the next DJ. 

Doesn’t really align with a fun, welcoming fan convention.

The angry part of me really hopes that if he does attend the next DJ, someone will ask him outright in front of a room of people why he thinks a virus that has ruined the lives of hundreds of millions of people is actually a Jewish conspiracy to destroy capitalism, just so he shows what a deluded and problematic dick he’s being right in front of his biggest fans.

The sympathetic part of me hopes that doesn’t happen as I don’t want DJ (and, potentially, Red Dwarf) to be utterly ruined.
