(Of course, this doesn’t address the idea that the copies in D&A had a limited lifespan of about an hour, but why let that ruin a good fan theory.) Technically, shouldn’t we all be referring to Kryten as ‘she’? February 27, 2022 at 5:31 pm #271941 loadoftottnumbParticipant Me? The phrase isn’t ‘spells him/her Kryton’ Though thinking about it, Krytes kind of is an ‘it’ I suppose, he’s a machine with AI, kind of like Rimmer….and I mean animals are referred to as ‘it’ so maybe Cat should be too….. The Its From The Dwarf? February 27, 2022 at 6:23 pm #271944 Flap JackParticipant Me? The Its From The Dwarf? No no no, gender and pronouns thereof are a social construct, therefore anyone who has the same level of sapience and consciousness as humans can use gendered pronouns for themselves with equal validity as living humans. In the case of Kryten it’s arguable that he’s male because he’s programmed to be, but it still counts. But yes, it’s clear you meant “it” to refer to the word Kryten not the character Kryten.
