(I did see the first film a few years back, and I liked it a lot more than most people seem to…) Anyway, Youtube has the entire Original Series up for streaming. Last weekend I cherry-picked a few that I already knew were supposed to be very good. I watched: – City on the Edge of Forever – Amok Time – Mirror Mirror – the first half of The Trouble With Tribbles. (The stream crashed during that one.) I thought the episodes would only be up for the weekend to coincide with the new film, but they’re still there. What other suggestions do people have for TOS? I’ve enjoyed the episodes I have seen more than I would have expected, so I’d like to know which other ones are essentials, so I can catch them before they go away again. May 17, 2009 at 3:01 am #98946 pfmParticipant There’s this thing called ‘porn’. May 17, 2009 at 9:04 am #98950 DaveParticipant How have you never seen Star Trek? I thought you lived in the United States Of Americans? I thought it was in the constitution? I’d recommend Tomorrow Is Yesterday, A Piece Of The Action, Assignment Earth, All Our Yesterdays & Spock’s Brain. May 17, 2009 at 9:19 am #98951 Ben PaddonParticipant You’re a terrible person, Dave. May 17, 2009 at 9:24 am #98952 DaveParticipant I like Spock’s Brain May 17, 2009 at 9:43 am #98953 Ben PaddonParticipant I like Spock’s Brain. … Let’s keep the axe. May 17, 2009 at 9:50 am #98954 DaveParticipant There’s nothing more devastating than a big chopper. May 17, 2009 at 10:08 am #98955 Ben PaddonParticipant Shhhh…. …don’t cheapen this. May 17, 2009 at 10:17 am #98956 JamesTCParticipant I reccomend this episode called The Next Generation and another episode called Deep Space Nine, they are quite long though. May 17, 2009 at 10:30 am #98957 Seb PatrickKeymaster Blink, Human Nature, City of Death, Genesis of the Daleks. May 17, 2009 at 10:54 am #98958 siParticipant Sod that, let’s go back to Spaced. Daisy: Hmm, what’s up with Mike? Tim: Nothing, he just, he usually likes to be Philippa. Though if you’re talking Doctor Who, I recommend Horror of Fang Rock. Buy it here: http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/577183/Doctor-Who-Horror-Of-Fang-Rock/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=1 Just ?5.99 from a highly recommended seller by the name of bromley001. May 17, 2009 at 10:57 am #98959 DaveParticipant Oh Yaa, Ah Hadden Fort Ah Daht May 17, 2009 at 10:59 am #98960 JawscvmcdiaParticipant Now to check the granite edducts. May 17, 2009 at 11:14 am #98961 siParticipant Babylon 5’s a big pile of shit. May 17, 2009 at 11:18 am #98962 Bob LoblawParticipant “I was born ready, Timmy” “Yeah but are you ready now?” “Uh…yeah” May 17, 2009 at 11:48 am #98964 siParticipant Tim: Twist, you’re…Jabba. Twist: Is Jabba the Princess? Everyone: YES! May 17, 2009 at 11:50 am #98965 Ben PaddonParticipant Babylon 5?s a big pile of shit. *shit-eating grin* Oh, man. I wish Kris were here. May 17, 2009 at 1:41 pm #98974 SeeYouAtThePartyRichterParticipant Good this, isn’t it. Even though we’re just listing chocolate bars. May 17, 2009 at 2:02 pm #98975 PhilParticipant Spock’s Brain it is then! (Actually, even I know better than to watch Spock’s Brain…) >How have you never seen Star Trek? I’m not really a big science fiction guy at all. The only sci-fi I grew up with, for the most part, was humorous/parodic. With the exception of Episode 1, I’ve never even seen Star Wars. Eventually I’ll see Star Wars, I guess, if only for its historical/cultural importance. Which is kind of why I’m interested in Star Trek TOS. (The later series, for the time being, don’t hold any appeal for me.) May 17, 2009 at 2:23 pm #98976 JamesTCParticipant If you liked Star Trek TMP then you should really watch Star Trek II, III and IV preferably within close proximity of each other, they are connected as a loose trilogy. I also think you should watch some of the best of other Trek, try ‘Yesterdays Enterprise’ from TNG. May 17, 2009 at 3:07 pm #98979 ChrisMParticipant Star Trek VI: The undiscovered Country is great too. Probably my favourite film with the original crew (or maybe all of them. First Contact was rather good for the Next Generation, and actually a bit scary.) Actually, I rather liked Nemesis too but I seem to be in the minority there. (I don’t hate any of the ST films though, but some are certainly better than others.) For series, I think I actually prefer Babylon 5. ;) May 17, 2009 at 3:11 pm #98980 JamesTCParticipant Oh I actually like all the Star Trek films bar TMP. VIII and VI probably being my favourite. I think II, III and IV are much easier for a new comer to get into though. May 17, 2009 at 4:23 pm #98982 siParticipant Speaking of Star Trek crap… If I was Simon Pegg, I’d sue. May 17, 2009 at 4:36 pm #98983 J_SpacedParticipant >With the exception of Episode 1, I?ve never even seen Star Wars. “You are so blind! You so do not understand! You weren’t there at the beginning. You don’t know how good it was! How important! This is it for you! This jumped-up firework display of a toy advert! People like you make me sick! What’s wrong with you? Now, I don’t care if you’ve saved up all your fifty ‘p’s, take your pocket money and get out!” (Cut to tiny, tearful child who then runs out crying.) “What a prick.” :D (Hurriedly added quotes to indicate this doesn’t come from me and I’m calling no-one a prick!) May 17, 2009 at 4:54 pm #98984 DaveParticipant >If I was Simon Pegg, I?d sue It looks more like the guy out of The Big Bang Theory May 17, 2009 at 4:57 pm #98985 JamesTCParticipant >It looks more like the guy out of The Big Bang Theory Bloody hell it does! May 17, 2009 at 5:06 pm #98986 siParticipant This one’s better, but, my god, not by much… May 17, 2009 at 8:18 pm #98990 pfmParticipant Set phasers to ‘come’. May 17, 2009 at 8:54 pm #98993 Squeaky GibsonParticipant that has to be the worst Scotty figure I have ever seen…they forgot his moustache! May 17, 2009 at 9:02 pm #98994 JamesTCParticipant Why is the second Scotty soft light? May 18, 2009 at 3:46 am #98997 Ben PaddonParticipant Best Pegg action figure is still the talking Shaun of the Dead 11″ figurine, very closely followed by the Doctor Who 5″ “Editor” figure. May 18, 2009 at 2:55 pm #99008 pfmParticipant I totally forgot about him being The Editor. A pretty forgettable episode, The Long Game. It’s funny how much it was slagged off at the time though, no-one knew what shite we were gonna have to endure over the next 3 years! The Idiot’s Lantern, Fear Her, Evolution, Lazarus and 42 spring to mind. May 18, 2009 at 7:44 pm #99011 DaveParticipant I bloody love The Long Game May 18, 2009 at 10:01 pm #99012 pfmParticipant The first stab RTD had at going all Blade Runner and it’s pretty laughable. The look of the BtE BR stuff is infinitely better. Actually it’s ages since I’ve seen The Long Game, or any of the middle episodes of series 1 for that matter. Maybe I’ll give it a watch with my surround setup and see if it does anything for me now. That’ll probably lead me into watching Father’s Day though, and I don’t want to start crying again…because of how good the writing is, I obviously mean. Incidentally, if anyone doesn’t own series’ 1 through 3 on DVD now is a great time to get them and smother yourself with RTD-era goodness. Series 1 is ?15 FFS!! I paid ?42.98 for it back in the day. Incidentally, I just went through my play.com order history to see how much I did pay for it and…all the crap I’ve bought over the years, it’s frightening. I don’t dare check my amazon history, though I know the first order I ever placed with them was The League of Gentlemen series 2 DVD, Phantom Menace and the T2: Judgement Day metal tin. May 18, 2009 at 10:14 pm #99013 JamesTCParticipant I was going to get Who series 3 for ?15 when I saw it at an asda, went to my local when I actually had the money and it was ?20, pfft, still I paid ?2 for Series 2 there and nearly paid ?25 for Series 3 but I decided to order Bodysnatcher online instead, I certainly made the best choice. Oh and you know, star trek. May 18, 2009 at 10:15 pm #99014 Ben PaddonParticipant The box sets are still $70-100 here. Reddickulous. May 18, 2009 at 10:24 pm #99015 JamesTCParticipant I missed out the “5” before Series 2 so it looks like I payed ?2, I wish. May 19, 2009 at 1:16 pm #99022 siParticipant I’m not a fan of The Long Game. Mind you, I’m not a fan of Father’s Day, either. May 19, 2009 at 7:42 pm #99032 TheLeenParticipant I liked both. May 19, 2009 at 9:54 pm #99034 JawscvmcdiaParticipant It’s life Jim but not as we know, not as we know it, not as we know it. May 20, 2009 at 12:05 am #99035 pfmParticipant > I?m not a fan of The Long Game. Mind you, I?m not a fan of Father?s Day, either. Is your name Holly?
