I actually liked the confusing babble too, but it would have been slightly different obviously: “So when Rimmer destroyed the craft we no longer had the time drive to become our future selves and come back into the past to confront us except the past… blah blah BOOOM!” Someone posted after that video that it would be a good foreshadowing of Ace Rimmer too. Which would have been nice. Putting it at the start of Tikka would have messed up Stoke, in which he’s still supposed to be as unheroic as they come. And, like has been said, the moment doesn’t mean much because they were going to be saved regardless of whether Rimmer shot the Time Drive or not.
