Well it’s the natural follow on isn’t it?

I saw the alt text of the new XKCD

We’re working to make sure the images are as up-to-date and accurate as possible, with a minimum number of sponsored galaxies.

… and I thought: “COKE ADDS LIFE!”

Watching the special edition of Dr Who: Warriors of the Deep and when it cut to this I thought I was watching Back in the Red. Not a line but I couldn’t find if there was a “Things from something else that look like they’re from Red Dwarf” or not.

Trailers for something else that seem very reminiscent of one particular episode of Red Dwarf:

    That movie looks exhausting

But will this movie do what Red Dwarf didn’t, and interrogate the fact that the matriarchal alternate reality makes the women masculine and the men feminine?

This 1995 book involves teenagers bodyswapping, which turns out to be because (SPOILER) one’s murdered her parents and wants to escape the consequences, which reminded me of Butch’s similar getaway in Trixie LaBouche’s body in Better Than Life. But on looking it up, that turned out to be from the Smegazine’s revised/alt take rather than the novel (in the book, he borrows her body first and uses it to rob some banks, which is less similar). So R.L. Stine obviously read the Smegazine version.

This wasn’t intended to be a nudge about DwarfCasts, but still.

And, more importantly, will it feature baby robots?

Something just seen in Patriot (2015-18) that turns out to be real:

The hopping procession of Echternach (Iechternacher Sprangprëssioun) is an annual Roman Catholic procession held at Echternach, in eastern Luxembourg.

The first written reference of the hopping saints goes back to 1497, but the origins must be from much earlier.

Rimmerworld is like Terrorform except it’s daytime and it… hang on, that gives me an idea.

They finally gave Rimmer a body just in time to run out of new ideas for Rimmer episodes.

(I do really like Rimmerworld though).

If you combined the episodes into a big feature length where by day various Rimmers are squabbling and backstabbing each other and by night the evil creatures of self-loathing and bitterness come to hunt their prey, that would work.

Sort of like Red Dwarf meets From starring Harold Perrineau desperately trying to get miscellaneous Rimmers to cooperate to stay alive.

Happened to see the X Files episode Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose and I’m convinced now it inspired Series 8’s Cassandra (with Clyde being a man with the ability to see how anyone will die)

Look, it’s just up ahead. You know, there are worse ways to go, but I can’t think of a more undignified way than autoerotic asphyxiation.

    (Mulder leans forward.)

MULDER: Why are you telling me that?

CLYDE BRUCKMAN: Look, forget I mentioned it. It’s none of my business.

It’s also a staggeringly better episode of television, too.

I was a few years older and had the figures, the Batmobile, the Batwing, the lot. It was everywhere and was the first movie I remember getting really hyped for.

(I was too young to see it at the cinema, but my birthday party the year it came out on VHS involved renting it along with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as a double-bill.)

Weirdly while posting on this thread I put on BBC 3 counties radio, and they’re sending a working class presenter to Ascot to learn how to act there – specifically mentioning Gazpacho Soup as a starter when I switched it on.

The sequel a woman in the guise of a cat.
