When I moved from the US to the UK in June, I contacted Microsoft about transferring my Xbox Live account to the US system so I could enter my new bank account details and continue to pay for the account. What they did instead was insult me, offend me, hang up on me, send me mocking emails and offered me advice such as “go back to England.” Nice, eh? It reached a head when they contacted one of the gaming websites I write for yesterday and asked them to drop me from their Editorial line-up. The Editor in Chief of the website naturally responded by telling them, in lovely colourful terms using diagrams where appropriate, to go fuck themselves. I’ve never called anyone a cunt before, but whoever it was at Microsoft who demanded I be fired is one, and a total, total one at that. I’ve written an article about the issue, which you can read at the gaming website here. I’d be interested in seeing your feedback. Three words, though: Get a Wii. January 10, 2008 at 9:34 am #119247 Tanya JonesParticipant Bloody hell. What a bunch of arseholes. The suggestion that GP drop you to save Microsoft’s blushes is particularly shocking. Surely it’s not that hard for them to solve your problem? January 10, 2008 at 10:31 am #119248 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > Three words, though: Get a Wii. That’s not very helpful advice considering Wiis are totally different machines with different goals and games. Four words, though: Become a PC gamer. January 10, 2008 at 10:37 am #119249 Pete Part ThreeParticipant I’ve been saying it to everyone, irrespective of whether it’s even partially related to the topic being discussed. Three words, though: Get a Wii. January 10, 2008 at 11:13 am #119250 Ian SymesKeymaster Wiis are literally the best thing ever, it’s true. What a rotten story, though. Keep on at them, Ben. They’re clearly cretins. CUSTOMER: “I want to be able to give you money in order to use your services.” COMPANY: “Erm, you can’t. Piss off.” January 10, 2008 at 2:41 pm #119257 JamesParticipant Paying to play games online? That’s a bit of a barmy notion, if you don’t mind me saying so sir! PC/ Console debate aside, they must be nuts! I find Youtube gets immidiate action. I suggest a translation of your written work to video. January 10, 2008 at 4:52 pm #119268 Ben PaddonParticipant I’ll be putting a YouTube vid up next week, most likely. I would do it this weekend but I’m off to Houston. I already have pretty much every major system at the moment, so I’m not left out in the gaming department. January 11, 2008 at 7:31 pm #119307 DaveParticipant Are Microsoft underhanded enough to get your green card revoked? January 11, 2008 at 11:03 pm #119314 SomebodyParticipant Uhhh…. “When I moved from the US to the UK in June”? You make it very clear in the rest of your post & article that it’s the other way round… [Sorry, pet hate.] January 12, 2008 at 12:03 am #119315 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > [Sorry, pet hate.] Someone telling you they moved from the US to the UK when it was actually the other way round is a pet hate? January 12, 2008 at 6:19 am #119316 SomebodyParticipant No, people saying one thing on teh interweb when they actually mean the exact opposite in general is a pet hate. Not limited to one specific example :). January 12, 2008 at 1:24 pm #119328 peas_and_cornParticipant >I?ve never called anyone a cunt before then what the fuck are you doing here? :P January 12, 2008 at 1:36 pm #119330 AndrewParticipant > people saying one thing on teh interweb when they actually mean the exact opposite in general is a pet hate. I could care less about it. :-) January 13, 2008 at 1:44 am #119350 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > I could care less about it. I’ve had a bit of a West Wing kick recently (well, I say ‘bit’, what I actually mean is ‘massive obsessive fit’) and I’ve noticed that only Toby says “could care less” while everyone else, INCLUDING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE GREATEST MAN IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, says it correctly. So, yeah! Take that, wrong-o! January 15, 2008 at 11:32 am #119392 JoParticipant West Wing is awesome Cappsy… and so are you :oD January 15, 2008 at 2:52 pm #119397 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Damn straight! :D January 15, 2008 at 5:24 pm #119399 Ben PaddonParticipant Incidentally, I’ve been contacted by Larry Hyrb, who’s Director of Programming for Xbox Live, and he says he’lls ee what he can do to get my problem sorted in the next few days.
