The mechanics of how we are seeing tweets from a fiction mechanoid that exists 3 million years in the future and wasn’t actually constructed until the 24th century is obviously a mystery in and of itself.

But assuming there is some function whereby that is possible, @ActualKryten seems to have knowledge of everything that we have witnessed so far in the show so the only logical interpretation of the account is that we are seeing tweets which are “in order” and post-date what we have seen of the crew up to and including TPL – hence he hadn’t cleaned his anal passage until “now” and so it had 3 million years of gunk when he was using his exhaust to dry that cutlery.

So, if Kryten is 3.2 million years old, but in Krysis he was under 3 million, that means that this interview is being conducted 200,000 years after Lister and The Cat have died of old age (unless they were put into stasis for some reason). That’s pretty bleak.

Robert has got himself confused on this topic, because in a comment he suggests that the hundreds of thousands of years where Kryten was looking after skeletons were in addition to the 3 million years Lister stasis period, and not overlapping with it.

So either Bobby believes that Kryten was built and the Nova 5 crash occurred in around 198,000 BCE, or he believes that there was a 200,000 year gap between Series 1 and Series 2.

I was 13 at the time and not fully able to appreciate that. You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone. I only really noticed everything sliding into fascist shit starting around 2015 with the very open racism being flung around, then it was transphobia and now we’re on to good, old-fashioned gay bashing once again. It’s fun to watch all the people/corporations who used to be performatively woke because it made them money pivot to the right. Maybe it will open some people’s eyes to how hollow it all is.
