It was one of those games that you’d play endlessly, not knowing where to go next or what exactly to do. Any SNES veterans on Ganymede who’ve played it in the past? One of many I’m really hoping comes to the virtual console soon. (Oddly, considering I’m not a big RPG fan, my three most desired titles are this, ChronoTrigger, and Super Mario RPG.) August 29, 2008 at 3:59 pm #83741 Arlene Rimmer BSc SScParticipant This is one of those games that I acquired in a perfectly legitimate way a while back, and yes, it is a wonderful little game. So is Seiken Densetsu 3, which is closely related to SoM and which I would love to see released officially (maybe as a GBA title or something). Have you ever checked out OCRemix, Tonguetied? They offer remixes of video game music, and they have a lot of great Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 remixes. August 29, 2008 at 4:12 pm #83743 TonguetiedParticipant Ah OCRemix, I did get a few great Secret of Mana and Zelda mixes over there years ago. Great site. I never actually got round to completing the game even though I’ve had it for years. Loved the Flamie music played when you were airborne flying around the map. August 29, 2008 at 4:32 pm #83745 PhilParticipant OCRemix sounds great…any recommendations before I go exploring? August 29, 2008 at 4:42 pm #83746 TonguetiedParticipant I think they have some Street Fighter 2 mixes, but last time I was on was ages ago. August 29, 2008 at 4:45 pm #83747 TonguetiedParticipant Found a link to Street Fighter 2 mixes if that’s your cup of tea http://sf2.ocremix.org/ as a recommendation that is. August 29, 2008 at 5:06 pm #83750 Arlene Rimmer BSc SScParticipant We-ell, as for SD3 and SoM remixes, I personally like “Electrion (guitar mix)”, “Hostile But Cuddly”, “Electric Fields”, “Distorted Star”, “Dark Star Scherzo”, and “Dueling Consoles” particularly. Of course, the site covers such a range of styles in their remixes that my meat may be your poison, as it were. I also like their EarthBound selection (especially “Brainshock”, “Dreaming On Distant Shores”, “Zombie Lounge”, “Unleashed! The Large-Hearted Scientist Boy” and “Rings of Saturn Valley”), and their remixes from these games: ActRaiser Earthworm Jim (and EWJ2) Golden Sun Illusion of Gaia Little Nemo: The Dream Master Megaman X Phantasy Star (I, II, and IV) Soul Blazer Star Ocean Super Mario 64 Treasure Hunter G Tales of Phantasia Terranigma There’s only a few remixes for each game I listed there–I’m going by my odds and ends remix folder, which is filled with stuff. I also have separate folders of music from several Legend of Zelda games, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasies I-VI, because OCRemix has a ton of remixes for each of those games. I’d also recommend a piece you won’t find on OCRemix anymore, but which is one ofthe most awesome instrumentals in the whole of ever–the Zelda 64 “Ocarina Boogie”, at the very bottom of this page. It was removed because it’s not strictly a remix, but making use of the game to compose something original; but damn, it’s catchy. August 29, 2008 at 5:18 pm #83753 TonguetiedParticipant Thanks for the link Arlene. Do you have the Link to the Past remix called ‘dark world prelude and march’ http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01531/, it’s got some good potential. August 29, 2008 at 5:47 pm #83755 Arlene Rimmer BSc SScParticipant I have all the LoZ: Link to the Past remixes, actually, and yeah, that one’s quite good. I also enjoy Neskvartetten’s jazz remixes of LttP themes. August 29, 2008 at 6:00 pm #83756 TonguetiedParticipant Anyone of Neskvartettens’s in particular you recommend, I’m listening to Ganon’s Temple right now. ‘Triforce Majeure’by Disco Dan(quite an original name there) is really terrific. Hyrule’s castle themes was one of my favourite tunes in LTTP. August 29, 2008 at 6:34 pm #83758 Arlene Rimmer BSc SScParticipant Well, honestly, I liked all of them, although “Waltz for Zora”, “Sahasralah’s Homecoming” and “Ganon’s Temple” stand out for me. (Altho’ there’s only four tracks by Neskvartetten there, so I suppose you may as well grab the fourth one too, “Ten Rupees”.) August 29, 2008 at 6:42 pm #83759 TonguetiedParticipant Cool, will do. Just downloaded a perfect dark remix Air Force one is Down by daniel baronowsky. August 29, 2008 at 9:48 pm #83771 Danny StephensonKeymaster OCremix is something i’m trying to get my hands into, but the submission process is aa little more complex than it should be… BUt download the “Voices Of The Lifestream (Final Fantasy VII)” album, it’s amazing. September 3, 2008 at 1:13 pm #83934 PhilParticipant AAAAAND Super Mario RPG is now on the virtual console in the US. Can’t wait for this weekend!
