He had the mercy of a late birth. June 8, 2026 at 10:31 pm #321994 DoomitronParticipant I liked S5 for the most part but S6 (excluding The Doctor’s Wife and The Girl Who Waited) and the first half of S7 up till Angels Take Manhattan was NuWho’s first lull period imo. June 8, 2026 at 11:15 pm #321996 WarbodogParticipant I like series 6 up to the half way point generally. The pirate episode is probably daft and for kids, I only watched it once, but I like the vibe of the Gangers two-parter and the runaround of the opening two-parter. The 2011 Christmas special was when I realised my personal short-lived golden age was probably over, but I still got excited for the 50th. But one of the fun things about Doctor Who is it can be so many things to so many people, and everybody can have their own opinions and favourites. But this is a new one! I think Clara only becomes worth a damn after the 50th, before that she’s thoroughly in “generic flirty young girl companion” to me. But as soon as Deep Breath starts, she’s so much more, and quickly became my favourite. Before that I adored Amy, and I had to stop watching Dr Who with my parents come Angels Take Manhattan because I didn’t want them to see the state I’d be in when she finally left. There were tears I’ll say that much. June 8, 2026 at 11:47 pm #321999 WarbodogParticipant ‘Hide’ is the ‘Cassandra’ of series 7B for me, which I could put on any time, except there isn’t really an VIII-sized gap to some of the others, which are still okay. I inspired myself to watch it right now. I know what thread I’m in, forum police. June 8, 2026 at 11:52 pm #322000 Ben SaundersParticipant I’ll be honest, Series 7 did not inspire me much, and I’m this site’s biggest Moffat defender. I think I’ve only seen each episode once. I will eventually get ’round to watching it all again, but given that I’m only on Castrovalva right now, it may be some time. June 9, 2026 at 1:55 am #322009 TechnopeasantParticipant 1. Seven 2. Eight 3. Ten 4. Six 5. Second Couldn’t resist, sorry guys. June 9, 2026 at 5:32 am #322010 WarbodogParticipant ‘Hide’ Very clever episode. Hinchliffe-era spooky sci-fi is fun, but I get way more out of this Hinchliffe-era-spooky-sci-fi tribute. It also unlocked another fan theory memory from the Series 7 trailer: Holy shit, it’s the Fields of Trenzalore guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! June 9, 2026 at 5:39 am #322012 DaveParticipant I only started to warm to Eleven when Clara became his companion, never much cared for Amy and Rory and his dynamic with them. The opposite for me, I loved the Amy and Rory setup but never really warmed to Clara. So I found all the Impossible Girl stuff a bit tedious.
