The section of the website we are currently on, as indicated by the above, is titled ‘Forums’. However, ‘fora’ is just as valid a plural for forum as ‘forums’. I petition that the website section be changed to ‘Fora’. I expect that no one will be on board with this idea, but I am still proposing it.

    Aye.

Either that or Officer’s Club, or something. Something Red Dwarfy.
    Or is that too pathetic?

If forum is the singular of fora, is a single plant a florum?

Actually, in the case of flora, it’s singular with the proper Latin plural being florae.

And to ‘Officer’s Club’, what of a more modern Officers-Only Corridor/Lift?

I propose ‘BBS’ to honour the show’s 20th century roots.

But “forum” is being used as an English word, to mean an online discussion board. We’re not using the Latin word for a physical meeting place. And the plural of the English word is “forums”.

Did you know that Howard Goodall hid a vocoded sample of the word “fora” in the Red Dwarf theme tune?

I’m looking at Merriam-Webster, who in fact do have the definition included for the online service, and include ‘fora’ as a valid plural for all definitions

If you’re looking to say ‘forums’ is more fun to say than ‘fora’
