This does make me want to know just how much of CEX’s profits come from current generation games. My instinct is that they would be in a decent position to weather this because they have such diverse stock.

Like if you can still buy NES games from CEX, it feels like it should be a while before the unavailability of PlayStation 6 games catches up to them. And movies aren’t even threatening to go digital only. (Yet.)

I wonder how much profits they make at all now, what with digital games and the decline of physical movie formats. I miss browsing CEX’s with huge DVD sections and buying tons of weird looking cult films. Remember Evil Aliens with Norm? Or that killer sheep film. Or a boxset of weird 80s kung fu films with a star called “Chick Norris”. All CEX impulse buys.

Late to the thread but once I learned what torrenting was, I stopped, back in the Limewire days.  But I only used it for classical music, which I think was too nerdy for people to bother using them as a vehicle for viruses!

I do pirate stream though.  I believe in supporting artists and creators but I’m not shelling out for streaming services that are each getting to be more expensive than a TV licence because they keep upping the price for a worse service.

Digital copies plus owning a physical copy are my preference.  Digital for convenience, physical for a sort of security.  Streaming is usually reliable but those times it’s not (power cut, service outage, lack of signal) are a real annoyance.

Online there seems to be a pushback against streaming gouging people more and more, and never any options to truly buy and own digital copies of things (always with DRM and needing the right app/software), so for a while yet I’m sure CEX will be fine.

FYI The Promised Land is back on iPlayer again, so that’s all 72 episodes (Back to Earth is the feature-length version) on there now.
