Just been digging through the TOS news archives (mainly to see if Robert is WRONG about what year the movie was almost mounted in his latest MitRM chapter):

I’ve not got that far yet, but this piece amused me:

the Red Dwarf movie has officially pencilled in the main cast to reprise their roles on the big screen – making good on the promise made by co-creator Doug Naylor not to replace them

God, remember when that was a thing? Also: Madonna.

Ah, Robert was right, it *was* 2001. For some reason I had it in my head it was 2002:

It’s very easy to forget just how close this fucker got to being made.

I have a very, very strong memory of where I was when I first read that. Genuinely the most exciting thing that had EVER HAPPENED.

I have a strong recollection of one of the early DVD articles have a picture of Starbug flying over a DVD.

Actually, as I was typing that I found it: http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/news/2002/06/14/digital-delight/

Don’t know why I had such a strong memory of that.

    Pete Part Three

Remember that horrendous flash version of TOS with images of Doug popping up occasionally? Christ, that was awful.

    Danny Stephenson

That was Red dwarf Online wasn’t it? I remember that being up shortly before rd.co.uk got launched and very quickly became my favorite website in ever.

    Plastic Percy

I remember Red Dwarf Online and the various things it advertised as coming soon that never materialised. Something about a city and being able to join an online version of the Space Corps.

    Ben Paddon

You used t be able to watch that on RD.co.uk as recently as a couple of years ago.

    Tarka Dal

Tales from the Windy City and D-Tails.
