But he was good in Borat…. (or am confused again!) October 29, 2009 at 5:57 pm #105422 Pete Part ThreeParticipant >(or am confused again!) Yes, yes you are. Series 1 of Little Britain was great with some wonderfully surreal bits making up for the limited range of Walliams. Series 2 was when the rot set in. Every character was a sexual deviant or had some condition relating to disgusting bodily functions. I think I gave up around Series 3 when, instead of trying to write funny sketches, they’d decided it was easier to put on fat suits. The USA variant looked terrible so I didn’t even bother with it. I still have a huge amount of fondness for this, though; October 29, 2009 at 7:11 pm #105423 ori-STUDFARMParticipant It’s been a while since I truly enjoyed any sketch show. Sure, I’ve found odd sketches or characters funny on various shows, but never really enjoyed a whole show! October 29, 2009 at 8:12 pm #105425 CarlitoParticipant I quite enjoyed Man Stroke Woman October 29, 2009 at 8:39 pm #105426 ori-STUDFARMParticipant Sorry, can’t think of a witty comeback for that… October 30, 2009 at 12:08 am #105429 The PerformingMonkeyParticipant > and the Michael Jackson special was borderline offensive on occasion (even to someone with a very thick comedy skin) and deeply unfunny most of the time. Come off it. While some of it was naff I was laughing at most of it, especially the parts that could have been deemed to be ‘offensive’. FFS, everyone should know what to expect in an MJ Bo Selecta special, it’s not going to be pleasant… The best Bo was always the topical stuff and ripping the piss. The WORST was the stupid sketches like MJ does Porridge and Mel B and Patsy Kensit living together (though the outtakes for that are really funny) I liked the end part where he took off the glove and mask and placed them on the piano. Bizarrely it felt like the most respectful thing anyone has done so far in relation to really laying MJ to rest. I still love the Bo Selecta DVDs. So much care and attention went into them, especially the menus which I have yet to see bettered. All the extras were beyond the normal shite fare too. October 30, 2009 at 12:21 am #105431 John HoareParticipant I still have a huge amount of fondness for this, though; That is a brilliant sketch, yes. I did enjoy the later ones they did with those characters as well (Series 3, was it?) “GET OUT.” October 31, 2009 at 3:06 pm #105462 Nick RParticipant I still have a huge amount of fondness for this, though; The Tom Baker line that opens that sketch is the one I always remember from Little Britain. It’s the one I always quote in defence of the first series. There were some good characters at the start but they didn?t seem to go anywhere. Simply rehashing the same predictable scenarios/ punchlines over and over got old very rapidly. I think Lou and Andy were the characters that survived the constant repetition longest, because watching a fat man go flying across the background of a scene will always hold some appeal. And “She pushed me!” is a great punchline. November 2, 2009 at 11:23 pm #105505 Tarka DalParticipant > Man Stroke Woman was a fantastic sketch show. Some of BBC Three?s finest comedy if you ask me. Isn’t that a bit like picking your favourite STI?
