Who has has a Red Dwarf dream?

I ask because I wanted to tell you about a weird Red Dwarf related dream I had yesterday.

Me and Ian (for some reason, we’ve spoken but never actually met) were in a a warehouse discussing how ridiculous the pencil shaped CGI Red Dwarf was. We’d found some test recording of the original pencil model, but it was double barrelled. Not just two Red Dwarfs side by side, but the right hand side had the front and ran back so somewhere in the middle of the ship (though about the same length as seen on screen, then next to it on the left, the middle of the ship continues, but level with the front of the ship, down to the back which sat level with the middle of the part on the right hand side.

Now, remember we’re in this warehouse. Well this dishevelled old man that looks like a homeless Doc Brown from BTTF arrived and opens this box containing the model we had seen in this test shot. He keeps pulling bits out like a magician removing handkerchiefs from his sleeve. Piece my piece until this full length model is presented to us.

Now, you know how dreams change location but you know you’ve always been there? Well suddenly me and Ian are at my dead grandparents house, except my granddad isn’t dead. He seems quite happy that me and Ian have decided to suspend this model from his ceiling, starting in the back bedroom and snaking all around the top floor of his house.

At this point the model is 12 meters long (we measured it in the dream) and its more akin to the small RD model that come with one of the DVDs (series 6?) … but none the less we’re convinced this is the original 12 meter model build with the intention of shooting it for remasters.

All that stuff about how the current model is a cut down version of a 12ft model that was scanned for CGI … well that 12ft model, in my dream, was a cut down 12m model that look ridiculous.

And that’s all me and Ian could say to each other, and that we’re lucky the version that ended up on series 8 and the re-mastered wasn’t as bad as this monstrosity … and what were they thinking building this ship that ended up looking like a small red snake, winding its way around the ceiling of my grandparents house.

I’m on Red Dwarf and need a slash. I curse my luck that it’s the pre-accident ship, and every darkened room and corridor of dorm-style bunks I pass through seems to have at least one person sleeping in it, I don’t want to wake them up with the flush.
Eventually I find a suitable bathroom, but Kochanski (II)’s there, and she asks if I can lift her onto the toilet. She says she can do the wipe herself though, so I leave her to it. Then I find a reclining female Mechanoid played by Emilia Fox, but before I find out where this is going, I decide I should really wake up to avoid pissing the bed.

Reading that reminded me of a snippet of last night’s dream, in which both the original Kochanski, played by Clare Grogan, and the second Kochanski, played by Clare something (nobody could remember her surname) were both on the ship at the same time. That’s all I can remember.

Reading that reminded me of a snippet of last night’s dream, in which both the original Kochanski, played by Clare Grogan, and the second Kochanski, played by Clare something (nobody could remember her surname) were both on the ship at the same time. That’s all I can remember.

Dawn French shows me a tape of a couple of rare deleted/reshot scenes from The Inquisitor:

– His original entrance in the inquisition scene on a revolving, sparkly-black podium, looking like the prize on a game show, which then goes haywire and spins him around on fast-forward until he tumbles out of his throne, diminishing his threat somewhat.

– A scene with the Inquisitor’s henchman, a pale, unpleasant, raggedy fellow who punctuates every line with a sniff delivered after an excruciating delay of dead air (presumably removed for reasons of time).

Had another dream a while ago about a scary scene where they were hiding from a Velociraptor that anticlimactically turned out to be part of some kind of harmless Lego/balloon droid theme park, like a cross between Meltdown and Star Trek’s Shore Leave written by a nine-year-old.

I had a dream about Gormenghast after I watched it. I dreamed that I was leaving with Titus at the end to explore the outside world with him. A man was telling us we should stay and look after the castle. That’s all I got.

Oh I just remembered. I used to have this recurring dream at age 13/14. The FBI had assigned me to work with Mulder and Scully, because they thought they were out of touch and needed a younger paranormal expert (which I was having listened to lots of UFO related interviews on Talk Radio). In the dreams I was much cooler than my real self, I had a baggy/grunge style and cool bangs hair, and I was always making sassy comments to the 2 agents, who were really deferential to me and earnestly asking my opinion on everything before talking or doing anything.

Last night I dreamed I was reading news that the next Red Dwarf special had begun shooting and there were some set photos. One was in a big Red Dwarf infirmary with way more expansive a set of beds than you’d ever get on a real set, and I think my brain latched onto that mythical underwater episode because one of the photos was Chris floating in water.

Also the news was on Gazpacho Soup and G&T didn’t have an article yet. Goddammit Cappsy, get your shit together.

My Facebook memories have reminded me that nine years ago I had a dream in which Chris Barrie had been conned into buying $1,000 worth of diapers because he’d been told he could sell them at a significant profit.

With everything that happened with his website of late, this dream feels much more believable now.

Finally somebody did something to spruce up this boring website.
