After the resounding success of my XI reviews thread, I thought I’d do another (AKA killing time whilst waiting for the Dwarfcast to start).

I swear you’re making some of these sites up, Stephen.

I could try NME but I think they’ve got bigger fish to fry.
Actually, these days they probably haven’t.

I can’t wait for the Timewave ones so that I know which sites have opinions worth listening to.

It’s much more interesting to read/listen to people you don’t agree with, though. It can either make you appreciate things you never did, see things from a different perspective, or want to strangle the person having such an egregious opinion.

Timewave is irreparably damaged by unnecessarily offensive “jokes”.

Sure it looks nice in places, Rimmer has a few good bits but you know what, Animal Hospital was a good TV show, and Jim’ll Fix It has a really good theme tune, but Animal Hospital isn’t repeated, and any ‘Top Retro TV Tunes’ rundown that actually wants to see the light of day will omit it.

Truly bad, offensive writing is a new red sock in the white wash, whether you’ve got six pairs or one straggler, your clothes are fucked.

I’m strongly of the opinion that Timewave is empirically awful so it’ll be interesting to see how people “in the biz” see it.

Anybody who liked Timewave is probably just an old man who wants all the kids off his lawn, despite the fact that the kids are all, in fact, on their own lawns.

Careful about giving too much away in the forum, chaps – it’s fine so far, but strictly speaking it should be confined to threads with blue banners.

I was reading the Radio Times’ preview of Timewave last night.
“It would be a fool who has a bad word to say about tonight’s parable on free speech and political correctness.”

    So there. Fools.

But the actual quality of jokes was far, far below the standard set by these past few series. As early as the Starbug mid-section scene I felt like something was distinctly “off” about the writing.

Yep. It was underwhelming from the off but got so much worse.

    TIMEWAVE:

    Flickeringmyth: 4/10
    Mymbuzz: 4/5
    Screenmayhem: 3.5/5
    Thepalaceofwisdom: 6.5/10

    Cultfix: 8/10
    33/50 (40.5/60)

The first episode of XI or XII to drop below a 7 average.

Must be homophobia against Ziggy and his campy antics. I can’t imagine any other reason Timewave would earn a lower score.

Well the top 6 there would be my ‘one series’ version of XI & XII (hard as it would be to lose Krysis), so I can’t argue with that really.
