Watching Only The Good and then immediately watching Back to Earth made me realise they use extremely similar plot points – in both, the Dwarfers invent some fucking gun out of thin air that allows them to travel between dimensions. At least in BtE, we have a smart sciencey person invent it, and we’re given a lovely montage of Sophie Winkleman being smoking and building it.

A live show would be so much FUN, if they could do it off-season and have it not interfere with the production of the show. Maybe do it as a kind of episode seven to XVIII.

Too be honest, part of the allure of going to see a live show is the possibility of them cocking it up. The smeg ups end up being funnier than a lot of the gags, and I feel it could still be a terrific experience with a few fuck ups. Obviously if it was just consistent fuck up after fuck up it would get old fast, but one or two here or there has the potential to be very funny.

From what Doug said in that one interview though he said he might write a brand new story for it, and somehow I feel if it was a new story i’d want them to fuck it up a bit less, I dunno

I just watched Epideme and Nanarchy there and hey, what do you know, they were pretty good.

Epideme would be brilliant if it wasn’t for that fucking talking virus. Holy shit I hate whoever did the voice for that with a passion, and whoever heard that voice and thought “yes that’s good that’s the voice we’re looking for”. It reminds me of the DJ in Revelation of the Daleks, who also ruins that story.
Nanarchy starts well but falls off towards the end.

When I was younger I liked the film look of VII, but now I realise that half the time it’s so fucking DARK it doesn’t matter what framerate it’s shot at because you can’t see anything.

Duct Soup is utter cack, but I’ll always love Tikka and Stoke.

One thing I noticed in Blue is that there is absolutely no peril whatsoever, hardly anything actually happens. Lister feels a bit sad and Kryten builds a rollercoaster. In my notes/review I wrote that after the constant excitement of VI this feels a bit boring, but if the episode was in Series III the progression might feel more natural (with the heaviest rewrites imaginable)

As does Rimmer’s death video in Me2. “Radiation leak” implies poisoning to me (actually I don’t know what would happen if a human was hit with an absolutely massive dose or radiation all at once, to be honest) bu the episodes show it was an explosion. The video in Me2 looks more like a hull breach, really.
