It’s not about being a music buff, it’s about spending most of your teenage years with vinyl or cassette being the only option (CD players were prohibitively expensive for a teenager in the ’80s). ^_^

I’ve only just seen it this afternoon, and I think it’s one of my favourite Christmas specials. I found the darker tone quite refreshing, tbh. I felt that it gave the episode more emotional depth.
Maybe they took the shark thing a little too far, but I found myself enjoying it too much not to suspend disbelief that little bit further.

I’ve just been watching the first two stories of Sapphire and Steel on youtube. I loved this show as a kid. You never really expect it to be as good as it was back then, but this is great stuff. I can’t believe that it has been all but forgotten.
The pace is as you’d expect for the time, but it really lends itself to the creepy atmosphere. It is incredibly cheap looking, but the writing and the performances are excellent, what I’ve seen so far would easily compare with the best of Who. But it’s far darker than Who. Lovely stuff.
The second story was fantastic. Worth buying.
