The amount of uneeded detail on it, and the fact it has a cardboard case when all the others are standard, also seems to suggest that this will be the design. Why else design it like that when it would?ve been much easier to just replace a sleeve on a DVD?

It looks like a cheaply made prop to me – the images behind the disc holders are the same as the cover, you can see from the second image above that it’s shoddily built and flimsy as hell.

    It’s a prop.

And as Andrew has said in the past, “it depends what case deal we are given”.

The version in the episode was two discs?

It was also a digipack :(

I don’t know if Pete intended to use the words “hilarious consequences” quite so often, but it does make it sound like a rejected VHS cover.

But I reckon it was still a two-parter when they shot on Coronation Street – Craig isn?t on screen when he says ?Back To Earth Part Three?, and it sounds to me like ADR?

It did smack a little of ADR, yes. As you say, it’s entirely possible it changed during the shoot.

The whole thing is really a dream cause by another despair squid.

Next time it’ll be the “fairly neutral feeling, actually” squid.

it?s entirely possible she was comped in seperately to the others.

Considering it would make her dying much easier to film, I’m guessing so.

What I was saying though that whoever decided Dwarf shouldn`t come back to the BBC could use this as justification. They could say that it wouldn`t have sustained an audience and wasn`t considered to be an absolutely successful return or whatever.

In which case you could use this justification to drop all shows, because most shows lose 25-50% through a run.

I’m guessing that it was a 3 parter before shooting. Just because we found out about it late, doesn’t mean it was planned late.

Why were they needed to bring joy to the characters? How often have they declared themselves mad keen Blade Runner fans who are desperate to remake scenes word for word?

In fact, in the DVD shop when Bladerunner is mentioned, they all shrug because they’ve never heard of it.

So I’m at a loss to explain how they dreamt it all, however much it influenced the show’s creation.

I have to agree with Pete. The ending was not only lazy (come on, we all thought “oh it’s the despair squid” after part one, hoping dearly to be proved wrong as there was no way it could be *that* lazy) but also boring. I don’t want to hear some half arsed explanation based on something that’s happened in Red Dwarf before but slightly different.

IMO, Emohawk is also a dull episode, lazily copying an earlier concept. I know it has its moments with the Kinatawowi stuff, but it’s basically just “ooh, let’s shove in Polymorph, Ace Rimmer and Dwane Dibbley and make an episode”. It’s the Dwarf equivalent of the Simpson’s clip shows.

There?s such a thing as pacing, and I just can?t see how *reducing* the running time of BTE could possibly improve it.

There’s two sides to this argument. The first is that BtE moved too fast, there was little exposition etc. The other is that BtE is full of superfluous crap that really isn’t very funny, and doesn’t need to be there.

Therefore whereas BtE needs to be the same running time, it needs different contents in order to make good use of that time.

BtE shows beautifully how Doug Naylor cannot pace a show properly. Comedy was often shoved into BtE at the expense of exposition, and with little regard to how fast or slow the story moves. This needs rectifing if Doug writes more Dwarf, and especially if he is ever let loose on a movie.

I don’t mean to be negative as a whole, but the pacing really was awful.

Not bad, but I still think that the original music suited the scene better.

But which music suits an episode of Red Dwarf better? The music used on BtE is, largely, completely out of place and un-Dwarf like.

Wow really? Be interesting to see this. I recorded all the shows to my computer yesterday, and without the ads and the extra titles and recaps, the whole show clocked in at just over an hour long. I tried going through it and seeing what i could get rid of, but i couldn?t find a lot that would genuinely benefit from being deleted.

It occurred to me that you could quite easily get rid of Katerina without too much problem.

Rimmer has been reading that “for Idiots” book – he could have found out how to make the portal from that. It would be funneh because it must be really easy if it’s in the Idiots book. Or Kryten thought of it on holiday.

The whole “dig up some dirt on Katerina” plotline was pointless and just padding, as was Rimmer killing her.

I’m sure she was there as “sexy woman quota”, but the show would have been better without her, IMO.

I only ask because I watched Part 3 on the 11:20pm repeat, and it made me wonder if those figures got included too.

Can I just point out that unless you are one of the 5000ish people with a box, you could watch it next week standing on your head for all BARB care.

Why does everyone think Rob wants to come back? I am more than sure that if he wanted to, he could and would.

He evidently doesn’t, so he hasn’t. It’s great that he got involved in Bodysnatcher, but that doesn’t mean he’s coming back for any more than that!

The Simpsons isn’t quite as good with commentary, largely because David X. Cohen and John DiMaggio aren’t around for them. (OK, Cohen is there for a few, but not running the commentary like he does in Futurama)

It was a terrible title sequence.

We don’t need the cast names there, and all the other text (even “by Doug Naylor”) should have been over the opening scene.

If you have a dodgy signal – picture breaking up, etc. you can improve it a lot by using a signal booster.

They?re fairly cheap. About a tenner for a basic one.

However with digital TV, these can make things worse not better. You probably don’t want it turned up all the way.

i found of all o these pictures in a secret place on the internet and decided to share them with the world. some of them have never been seen anywhere which i think you will agree makes this the most exclusive and birlliant red dwarf website going, an d definitely better than andrew ellard’s fun time emporium

Yeah, I think the point was that they stopped doing the bunk scenes because they were hard to rehearse because they didn’t get along. Not that they wouldn’t do them, or didn’t want to, just that it made life harder.

Plus Kryten’s arrival and a change in the pace of the show made them less useful.

I don’t think it’s been sorted out yet. Certainly I can’t find any press releases stating that it has, and Wikipedia (for all its faults, it’s more likely to be updated in this respect than 2|Entertain’s website) says it hasn’t.
