Thought that went without saying. But only because it does. Oh, it did. But had I said it, I’d have been jumped on like mad, so I thought I’d help you out Andrew. September 14, 2008 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Scenes from the Dwarf #84320 Mr FlibbleParticipant Rob was definitely involved in all three script books, split or no split. There are four script books. September 13, 2008 at 3:23 pm in reply to: Scenes from the Dwarf #84307 Mr FlibbleParticipant I just put my name on the Amazon waiting list for it and paid about 6 quid. September 12, 2008 at 7:20 pm in reply to: The Gorgeous Weather Presenters Thread #84273 Mr FlibbleParticipant Ha, I know her. I have slept in the same… house as her. September 8, 2008 at 8:34 pm in reply to: Corgi Registered Friends #84137 Mr FlibbleParticipant I hadn’t seen the reviews for the “Movie Book” on Amazon before! Very good :) September 8, 2008 at 8:24 pm in reply to: Corgi Registered Friends #84136 Mr FlibbleParticipant The CORGI qualification relates to gas installation, rather than plumbing. Yes, I know. I – a) thought “plumber” was easier to understand/funnier than “gas installation technician” b) thought no-one would really care c) know that there are plumbers that do gas and vice versa, as they’re sort of linked. September 7, 2008 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Corgi Registered Friends #84100 Mr FlibbleParticipant I thought this was an advert for a plumber or something. September 1, 2008 at 6:31 am in reply to: Lister’s triple fried egg sandwich with chili sauce and chutney #83833 Mr FlibbleParticipant I always took it to mean three bread, two eggs. August 28, 2008 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Back in the Red: Part Three – It Just Bugs Me #83661 Mr FlibbleParticipant You are not alone. Coming Soon: X-Files The Movie 3! Mulder and Sculley investigate a disturbing case of people liking Red Dwarf Series VIII, which leads them to an evil dictator hiding in a deserted studio… August 28, 2008 at 5:42 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83601 Mr FlibbleParticipant Surely it’ll be a one hour special, and while the cast/set/crew are hanging around recording that, they’ll do some other crap for Dave to glue some clips onto, thereby giving Dave something new and special for very little extra effort*. (*Andrew: add the word relatively) August 26, 2008 at 6:14 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83351 Mr FlibbleParticipant a plot thinner than a slice of reformed ham Hang on! You’re a few words short! I suggest “a plot thinner than a slice of reformed ham that’s been cut in half, thoroughly sanded down and fed through a mangle” August 25, 2008 at 9:29 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83297 Mr FlibbleParticipant Go attack someone else. I don?t work there any more, so your special brand of pissed-off-ness is misdirected as well as ill-thought-out. And I have never mentioned you as having worked there, nor have I attacked you in any way. I have mentioned GNP throughout, not yourself. Again, if you read what I wrote, you would have realised this. Idiot. August 25, 2008 at 6:47 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83280 Mr FlibbleParticipant Yeah, Catherine Tate didn?t say *anything* in interviews that hadn?t been announced by Team Who? I did think about that when I put it. Which is why I put “Not generally” rather than “Not”. If you all learned to read what I had written, this would be a much more sensible discussion! August 25, 2008 at 6:05 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83274 Mr FlibbleParticipant No production?s information ever leaks out before release ever. Not generally from the main cast/crew, no. Glad you agree. August 25, 2008 at 4:18 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83270 Mr FlibbleParticipant Andrew, I give up with you. I don’t think it’s remotely that simplistic, OTOH, if it is done properly, what I said is achievable. My reasoning for this is that it happens all the time. August 25, 2008 at 3:15 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83264 Mr FlibbleParticipant Well, perhaps Robert’s in the position where he thinks he’s got nothing to lose by breaking such an NDA, if he is under one. But you get my point. If GNP didn’t want it to get out, they would make sure it didn’t, certainly via major cast members. August 25, 2008 at 2:44 pm in reply to: New Red Dwarf Episode Announced August 24th 2008 #83261 Mr FlibbleParticipant Surely if GNP didn’t want the fact it was coming out to be known, they’d have put everyone who knows about it under an NDA. That’s what, oooh, the rest of the world does. Things still get out the back door, but usually not attributable to anyone important. Hence GNP want us to know about it. August 10, 2008 at 6:05 am in reply to: Kevin Eldon speaks! #83072 Mr FlibbleParticipant Is your bandwidth really *that* tight? August 5, 2008 at 5:57 am in reply to: WALL-E #83025 Mr FlibbleParticipant Really good, loved it, wasn’t sure I would. I didn’t think it was very preachy either, just funny. August 1, 2008 at 6:07 am in reply to: Best Documentary Piece? #82944 Mr FlibbleParticipant One of the more candid bits would be good, but might not work without the context. I think Dwarfing USA would be good, but I always liked the way the “Black Wednesday/Thursday etc” bit was done. Anything from the Series 1 or 2 Bodysnatcher doccos would be good though. I can’t remember which bit. July 28, 2008 at 8:27 pm in reply to: Did you see The Dark Knight? – Spoilers! #82844 Mr FlibbleParticipant The moment he pulls on a sharp suit I?m taken back to the first time I saw him in a film? American Psycho. There was one scene that was very Patrick Bateman… July 27, 2008 at 8:18 pm in reply to: Shit #82779 Mr FlibbleParticipant It’s very hard to pretend to be crap. Darkplace manages it beautifully. July 24, 2008 at 8:59 pm in reply to: Did you see The Dark Knight? – Spoilers! #82656 Mr FlibbleParticipant Different music for the sad scenes next movie please. Bored of these ones now. OTOH – IMAX – Fucking awesome. July 24, 2008 at 6:25 am in reply to: Biblical Legion #82625 Mr FlibbleParticipant All I remember wondering is why I had to bother caring about all this stuff when it was so obviously made up. July 24, 2008 at 6:24 am in reply to: I’m watching the US Spaced DVD with the new commentaries – Peggster! #82624 Mr FlibbleParticipant The Fran plot is kind of laughless Kind of sums up the whole show. July 23, 2008 at 5:47 pm in reply to: I’m watching the US Spaced DVD with the new commentaries – Peggster! #82615 Mr FlibbleParticipant I think Series 3 is better than 2, but there are some awesome moments in Series 2 – the cooking scene works very well, even though most of the rest of the episode is crap, and “She thinks I’m the renaissance!” is a classic line… July 22, 2008 at 5:34 pm in reply to: Biblical Legion #82569 Mr FlibbleParticipant I have a functional knowledge of Christianity, just never heard that line. July 21, 2008 at 6:46 pm in reply to: Biblical Legion #82547 Mr FlibbleParticipant Sorry, never cared about religion, didn’t know it. July 13, 2008 at 11:47 am in reply to: Arrested Development…worth it? #82277 Mr FlibbleParticipant If, like me, you’ve been planning to buy it for ages, it’s currently ?9.99/season on hmv.com. And ?29.99ish everywhere else… July 10, 2008 at 12:07 pm in reply to: DVD Player help #82228 Mr FlibbleParticipant Stating the obvious, I guess – try the Display button on your remote. Is there nothing in the Setup menu that looks ?On/Off?ish for info/display/whatever? (Cos that?s where the option is on my Sony.) Nope. I’ve tried it all. On my player, anyhow. July 10, 2008 at 8:12 am in reply to: DVD Player help #82214 Mr FlibbleParticipant Alternatively, my Philips TV has been going happily since 1999, and my DVD player since 2001 with no issues at all. In fact, compatibility wise, it’s one of the best out there, but reliability is certainly something that would make me buy one again, not “get another brand as soon as you are able”. A DVD/VHS Combi is likely to be a rebranded box these days anyhow. But, yes. They do show an annoying blue box during alternate angle content. And I haven’t found a way to get rid of it. But otherwise, you’ll never have trouble with a poorly mastered DVD – I was one of the few that wondered what the Series III recall was all about. June 24, 2008 at 6:42 am in reply to: Storylinesnatcher #81685 Mr FlibbleParticipant No, I wasn’t getting at anyone regarding intelligent debate. Sorry for the misunderstanding Dave. I’d like to try that in Asda. They don’t have those announcer people any more though, do they? June 23, 2008 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Storylinesnatcher #81672 Mr FlibbleParticipant Dave: I think that?s exactly what he meant. It was, yes. By the time we get to Blue, Lister does need and miss Rimmer, but Bodysnatcher was a prospective episode 2 so ?Herman Goering would have been more of a laugh than Rimmer. I mean, OK, he was a drug-crazed Nazi transvestite, but at least we could have gone dhancin!? still stands. That’s very true. All I wanted to do was point out the similarities and wonder if, perhaps, Doug reused the concept of Bodysnatcher in Series VII. I thought about the fact that Blue ends up with Lister hating Rimmer again, but is that really the point of the episode or not? Isn’t it “just a funny ending”? G&T has always encouraged intelligent debate, and as it was quiet (at least with Dwarf issues) I thought I’d encourage some, that’s all. My OP is almost certainly an incorrect observation, but I wanted to put it out there. June 23, 2008 at 6:10 am in reply to: Storylinesnatcher #81629 Mr FlibbleParticipant Oh, it’s not that silly an observation. June 15, 2008 at 3:29 pm in reply to: Increasing Fuel Efficiency in Cars – Spoilers! #81442 Mr FlibbleParticipant Someone *designed* the nova? June 12, 2008 at 9:48 pm in reply to: Spot the odd one out! #81280 Mr FlibbleParticipant Ridiculously fragile – one of my legs has snapped off How is hopping working out for you? June 11, 2008 at 6:09 am in reply to: Red Dwarf: The Expanded Universe #81166 Mr FlibbleParticipant I’d prefer it to “stay in the family” personally, as from what I’ve seen only Rob and Doug are really capable of writing Red Dwarf. Perhaps adding to the TV series would be different. A novel between 2 and III would be good, but I think it’d have to be “Dad” derived for me to be happy. I think with the novels existing, you’d have to be very careful to go and have TV Series novels and non-TV Series novels. June 9, 2008 at 5:40 am in reply to: Did you see Ganymede & Titan? – Spoilers! #81115 Mr FlibbleParticipant Shouldn’t there be a “Norman Lovett to play Davros” headline too? :) June 8, 2008 at 4:04 pm in reply to: Did you see Ganymede & Titan? – Spoilers! #81083 Mr FlibbleParticipant If it was both you could call it Gallifrey and Titan. May 29, 2008 at 8:54 am in reply to: Owls, they’re in my brain! #80834 Mr FlibbleParticipant Yay, another stupidly catchy tune from Weebl! May 25, 2008 at 12:55 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Radio Show on iTunes. Meh. #80674 Mr FlibbleParticipant If you have a Mac and an iPod, iTunes is great. If you haven’t, regardless of iTunes Plus, it’s a bit of a pain. But if it’s DRM free on iTunes, you only have to go on there to buy it, so I can’t see a big issue really – it’s better than GNP selling it through their own site as lots of people have iTunes accounts anyway. Thankfully I have a Mac and an iPod, so I don’t need to worry about the other stuff. May 4, 2008 at 10:42 am in reply to: New Batman Posters – thread is potentially spoilery! #80013 Mr FlibbleParticipant What’s funniest is when you have a film that you think should have an end credit sequence, but doesn’t, so a few people wait around, obviously waiting for something more and… nothing. But to be honest, except for things like the Simpsons, where everyone knew that there would be an end credits sequence after the other in credit sequence, after the first week, so few people stay for these things. PotC3 is an example – so few people watched that it was unreal. May 1, 2008 at 9:20 am in reply to: Goodbye To Love #123079 Mr FlibbleParticipant I take my eye off the site for a week… Andrew, it’s fair to say that, like many others, you’ve kept me interested in Dwarf for the last few years. You’ve done an absolutely fantastic job, and I hope you go on to excite me with your new projects. All the good quotes have gone now. Damn. And I didn’t see the “No” in the poll on the front page until after I’d voted. April 29, 2008 at 12:56 am in reply to: New Batman Posters – thread is potentially spoilery! #122977 Mr FlibbleParticipant Is that poster real? Hasn’t everything else had “DARK” centered over the shield? March 31, 2008 at 10:17 am in reply to: Things that make watching Red Dwarf on Dave more fun than it otherwise would be #122037 Mr FlibbleParticipant Why does Legion turn into Kryten when he’s the only one left conscious? Surely he’s either got the face of whoever’s there, with the Legion body, or he should have Cat’s arm, Rimmer’s leg etc. March 30, 2008 at 11:46 am in reply to: Let John begin masturbating… #122021 Mr FlibbleParticipant Thankfully The Beast With a Billion Backs is out in Region 2 just a week after Region 1, so I can buy it here rather than importing it. I can’t believe BBS isn’t out over here yet… And as for the Barbarella thing – that whole episode is just great. March 28, 2008 at 1:42 pm in reply to: The sad reality of it… #121992 Mr FlibbleParticipant “I mean, I really can’t see us still being here in fifty years time, still trying to get funding…” March 26, 2008 at 11:26 am in reply to: It is an ex-Scrapheap #121944 Mr FlibbleParticipant And even harder to film than Crystal Maze… March 21, 2008 at 1:29 am in reply to: Maid Marian and her Merry Men #121841 Mr FlibbleParticipant Talking about cheap DVDs like we kind of weren’t, Black Books box set is ?12 in Zavvi… March 20, 2008 at 2:48 pm in reply to: Maid Marian and her Merry Men #121811 Mr FlibbleParticipant 19 years! Is it really that long ago. I still like it – it’s not as good as it was when I was a kid, but I love puns and silly songs, so that aspect still lives with me if nothing else.
