It’s decided that it’s actually quite delightful waste of time because they haven’t discussed politics. February 19, 2018 at 11:14 am in reply to: Idea for an episode. #227944 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant CAT HAS WORMS The Cat has worms. Kryten spends 26mins extracting them with a pair of kitchen tongs. February 19, 2018 at 7:59 am in reply to: What would you expect of Red Dwarf XIII? #227939 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I’d like less “moody sets” – they look great, why light them in a such a way as to suggest power failure? It’s ironic really given the amount of time given over to how the lighting was achieved on the DVD, which was really interesting if nothing else. I don’t mind lose arcs, in the sense of series VI, but I think generally stand alone episodes are better. And I know it’s difficult on a small soundstage, but I’d love a Starbug that really fells interconnected again, with a midsection you can see from the cockpit and the crew seamlessly moving between the two. I’d love at least one episode that causes a the fandom to collectively shit itself over the controversy it causes. February 18, 2018 at 11:41 pm in reply to: Idea for an episode. #227920 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Beyond Nan-archy – The crew board a derelict and find the lady that says “gosh” in a stasis booth. Once revived she initially appears to be a sweet old lady who just wants to look after the crew. Once it becomes clear she has a rival in Kryten she starts to run amok, trying to over throw the over bearing droid from his position of sock darning power. Tensions escalate, guerrilla warfare breaks out between the lady that says “gosh” and Kryten. Lister and Rimmer try to calm things down but neither side will listen. Eventually Kryten steals a tank from an AR game and blows the lady that says “gosh” to smitherines, blasting a hole in the side of the ship (and Pinewood Studios) at the same time. Meanwhile Cat does some Cat things. February 16, 2018 at 4:40 pm in reply to: Doug WhatCulture interview #227784 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant > I haven’t really seen anybody complain about the two-partedness of Epideme/Nanarchy Obviously I don’t speak for everyone, but I don’t really see them as multi-parters, not in the same way as Back in the Red, Pete and BTE are. They are 2 very distinct stories that happen to follow on in a serialised way, rather than 1 story specifically across multiple episodes. The fact they are given distinct episode titles helps set them apart as well. And when discussed, they probably get swept up in the crapness of series VII debate. February 15, 2018 at 2:45 pm in reply to: The End TV Listing 15th Feb 1988 #227719 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Well done Dave, I’m actually quietly crying with laughter at my desk at work February 15, 2018 at 1:27 pm in reply to: The End TV Listing 15th Feb 1988 #227713 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I had wondered why he’d got it from, makes sense he grabbed it from Doug. February 15, 2018 at 11:51 am in reply to: The End TV Listing 15th Feb 1988 #227709 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Yeah I was surprised by them spoiling the crew death too. Especially as, if memory serves, wasn’t it advertised in trailers without giving that away? February 8, 2018 at 5:37 pm in reply to: Did Kochanski ever find out whether the Time Wand can do boob jobs? #227443 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant > Although, I always assumed the crew resurrection was a mistaken overcorrection on their part, that they just indiscriminately reconstructed everything without realising the crew weren’t there before… There was a missed opportunity to see a horribly oversized and disfigured crew shrinking down to the correct size and proportions along with the ship January 10, 2018 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf Remastered Credits #226739 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant > The model we have now though is even worse that that imo, too short, cone too long. I’d honestly take a CG Dwarf now, some hybrid. > The big section too has horrendous light leakage that really makes it look like some plastic sheets over a strip light. I agree. And it’s a really annoying symptom of them cutting down the longer pencil model that would have had everything in proportion. It’s the nose cone that looks ridiculous, it’s like half the length of the rest of the ship. I’m not sure I’d go as far to say I’d prefer a CGI Dwarf, although the one in BTE isn’t awful. But I feel they could touch the model up a bit to make it look a little less awkward … Although now I say that, part of the charm of Red Dwarf (the ship) is that is is big, bulky and awkward. November 27, 2017 at 12:56 pm in reply to: Only The Good Is Alright #225341 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant The other thing BTE has going for it is that they don’t actually invent anything or go anywhere November 24, 2017 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Only The Good Is Alright #225227 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant > what was in Lister’s pants that shocked Rimmer so much? I always thought this was his urine being green … he sees it, is shocked, then tells Lister it isn’t right. November 24, 2017 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Only The Good Is Alright #225211 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I always assumed it was lady bits too. Bet then he doesn’t have tits so who knows. November 24, 2017 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Only The Good Is Alright #225210 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I always assumed it was lady bits too. Bet then he doesn’t have tits so who knows. November 20, 2017 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Merry 10th to The Bodysnatcher Collection #224994 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant My mum tried to stop me watching Power Rangers, but I used to just watch it on a Saturday morning before she woke up anyway. Now I co-host a Power Rangers podcast, so jokes on her really … or me. I’m not quite sure. November 17, 2017 at 3:42 pm in reply to: An odd question #224848 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Maybe they were all nude but in the recreation of Rimmer’s death for his video Holly put them all in clothes to save their modesty. TBF, there’s a lot that doesn’t make sense if we think about it too hard. Why was Frankenstien in the hold, when we’re shown her being hidden in Lister’s quarters. Why the hell doesn’t Rimmer notice Frankenstien? Why is the hold sealed off and not, ya know, the living areas?! Why is Holister content with punishing Lister and not finding Frankenstien? This is has just lead me to a side thought … given Holister’s comments about The Oregon with the rabbits, it’s surprising the show doesn’t ever hint at the fact it might have been a stray cat that caused the radiation leak. In fact, that could be the ultimate joke on Rimmer … it was never actually his fault but no-one is aware of that fact. Anyway … where was I? What’s going on? November 17, 2017 at 9:59 am in reply to: Let’s Talk About Red Dwarf XII: The Game #224833 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Is there anyway to turn the sounds off in game? Pretty sure I rubbed up against this with the last game, but I tend to listen to music on headphones whilst playing on the tube. Even with audio muted on phone, game audio seems to bypass and play through headphones along with music. November 15, 2017 at 1:03 pm in reply to: Jawscvmcdia’s Totally Fucking Pointless Questions Thread – Submit Your Own #224650 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant What if Lister has succeeded in Timeslides and the next 27 years of Red Dwarf was simply Rimmer knocking around Red Dwarf on his own with nothing but Holly for company? November 14, 2017 at 2:05 pm in reply to: Let’s Talk About Red Dwarf XI: The Game #224582 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Huh … yeah, the Apple App Store also lists it as UKTB Interactive Ltd, releasing Red Dwarf, UKTV Play, Storage Hunters UK and Hairy Bikers It always used to be listed as GameDigits right? Maybe they are just taking a back seat the devs and UKTVs brand is putting them out? Also interestingly enough … the Red Dwarf XI game was updated 7minutes ago with improvements to the Office Rimmer episode. Maybe they added an ending?!? hahahahahahahahaha November 13, 2017 at 9:48 pm in reply to: Let’s Talk About Red Dwarf XI: The Game #224562 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I personally look forward to make 1,245 Sugar Puff sandwiches. November 13, 2017 at 12:32 pm in reply to: A thought occurred last night about Series VIII and its sets #224531 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Haha yeah, it’s a shame really … if it wasn’t for that one thing it’d have been great. November 12, 2017 at 9:11 am in reply to: Hour Long Dwarf? #224466 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant It’s not as though Red Dwarf hasn’t done this before, so it’s worth pondering whether the extended episodes of series 7 benefit from th extra material. I for one really like the additional ending to Tikka, if only because it gives a rather neat explanation as to what happened to the curry and how they have more going forward. There’s a joke in Starbugs cockpit in one of the other episodes that’s quite good, but otherwise the rest of the material can be taken or left. I’d just worry that if Doug did get an extra 10 or 15mins it wouldn’t be used in the way we want it to be used. That’s to say, we wouldn’t get a nice exploration of plot or a satisfying ending, we’d just get more stuff thrown in the middle for the laughs. October 30, 2017 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Which do you prefer, Clare Grogan or Chloë Annett and why? #223457 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Clare plays the Kochanski that Lister would actually fancy Chloe plays the Kochanski that would be a navigation officer. Maybe they are both two sides of the same personality and we only see them come out in certain situations … but I honestly can’t see Lister actually falling for the sort of Kochanski we see in Series VII … maybe VIII but there’s very little character to see of her in those episodes unless a “ooooh a woman” joke needs to be made. October 12, 2017 at 10:00 pm in reply to: What will be 'XII's color'? #222872 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I’m going to go with some sort of Green. Red and Blue repeated themselves for X and XI, would make sense to continue the same pattern October 3, 2017 at 10:28 pm in reply to: It's the fifth anniversary of Trojan's first broadcast tomorrow #222516 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Dax – it definitely works much better on first viewing. Although seeing it recorded and then seeing it broadcast a year later had me in stitches both times. But now it’s the deliver and the anticipation of knowing what is coming that gets me every time. Maybe not rolling on the floor laughing, but certainly giggling like a little girl. October 3, 2017 at 9:32 pm in reply to: It's the fifth anniversary of Trojan's first broadcast tomorrow #222510 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant The Moose gag, and the punch line with Cat guessing and Danny’s delivery was absolutely phenomenal. I was in the audience for that, and you could tell every was excited to be there but a bit apprehensive for what we might get. When that scene happened, relatively early on in the recording, you could sort of feel the tension in the room lift as every burst out laughing and relax, knowing that the Red Dwarf everyone had been hoping for was back. Sure Dave era will, for many, not live up to the first 36 … but man they have been giving it a pretty strong go. Re Give and Take … I absolutely love the start, and I love how it concludes, but the 10min bit in the middle with Lister just sat in a hospital bed … the way it’s written and shot just feels like your typical audience sit-com and very undwarfy to me. Other than that it is a cracking episode. As for personal favourite moments … it’s hard to pick. Lister talking to his dad/himself is up there, as is the “jesus” – “yes” line in Lemons … although that had been spoiled for weeks in trailers. October 3, 2017 at 6:20 pm in reply to: Theory on Kryten being Additional Zero Zero One #222491 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Well, Twentica would have spawned a new reality, so when they returned to their present that prohibition had always happened. But until they left it hadn’t. All timey-wimey October 3, 2017 at 2:59 pm in reply to: Theory on Kryten being Additional Zero Zero One #222471 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Oh I know you are Seb, I’m just interested in what we have actually seen within the show that explicitly shows timelines change. I don’t think Lemon’s changes anything for anyone as it wasn’t really Jesus. It is possible that India gets the bag earlier than they would have done, but it’s also possible that the Jesus we see invented the bag all along due to being kidnapped by future space bums. Twentica I had forgotten about. They never fix the timeline do they, so presumably Earth history from their point of view has always had a prohibition on technology in the mid 20th century? October 3, 2017 at 1:59 pm in reply to: Theory on Kryten being Additional Zero Zero One #222452 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant That’s an interesting thought … how many realities/universes have our Dwarfers lived in? I’m talking about where the crews actions have in some way rebooted or changed the time line From ‘The End’ to ‘Time Slides’. ‘Last Day’ to ‘White Hole’ ‘Dimension Jump’ to ‘The Inquisitor’ ‘The Inquisitor’ to ‘Out of Time’ ‘Tikka to Ride’ to …. current? October 2, 2017 at 11:20 am in reply to: Theory on Kryten being Additional Zero Zero One #222395 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Yeah ya kno what Warbodog, I’ve been a bit of a tit and got my episodes mixed up. It is Inquisitor and that does indeed come before Quarantine. Move along people, nothing to see here September 27, 2017 at 6:45 pm in reply to: Re-watching X and XI before XII #222026 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant What bothers me about that joke is that they have clearly taken bits from different takes and stitched them together to make one long gag. Next time you watch it look at Cat’s hand movements. He does the same thing from 3 different angles that looks like it’s taken from the last “margh” of each take, a kind of fed up this is so simple why is it taken Kryten so long to get it gesture. September 25, 2017 at 2:01 pm in reply to: Please view this thread to read title. #221880 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Lister to Red Dwarf … the intruder seems to be blissfully unaware that we have 3 separate opinions combined into one, in the munitions cabinet. September 25, 2017 at 1:41 pm in reply to: Dwarfcasts XII #221876 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Personally, I only listen to the shit bits. September 24, 2017 at 9:46 pm in reply to: Please view this thread to read title. #221858 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Either give us access to the three people’s opinions we require, or be prepared to have them combined into one. September 24, 2017 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Please view this thread to read title. #221841 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I was living and working in the United States when three separate peoples opinions were combined into one. And it wasn’t until 2016 or 2017, on a return to the UK, when browsing the web one night, I came in the middle of this thread, clearly a science fiction thread, and at once to my horror and outrage saw what I thought was a rip off of three separate peoples opinions. I was already reaching for the telephone to call my lawyer when something happened that made me laugh. And it was something that certainly wouldn’t have happened on another websites forum. SO I left the telephone where it was and I went on reading, and I think within a few moments I had got what the thread was, and I was laughing all the time. For me, made it then and what continues to make this thread so appealing, is that at times it comes to close to my opinion, even if it is three separate peoples opinions combined into one and so delightfully makes a mockery of the kinds of opinions I have. I sometimes wish we could combine different opinions all the time. September 24, 2017 at 3:46 pm in reply to: Camille's Condition #221839 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Maybe they are only able to change appearance at will when the person observing them wants to see their true form. They likely have an instinct which prevents them from revealing who/what they are as a self preservation thing as well as completing their purpose of providing pleasure. It’s only when the crew all realise the truth that their desire to be pleasures wears off, and is over written by the desire to see Camille’s true form. Kryten’s is stronger than most as he still likes Camille regardless of form, so she is able to change for him and the rest of the crew can see it. So perhaps the condition Camille’s husband is curing is that initial instinct to appear as the person who is observing them wants to see, allowing them to change at will for anyone regardless of those people’s desires. September 24, 2017 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Red Dwarf current logo recreation #221836 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Plex is usually pretty good with figuring things out, though does need some help from time to time. What I can’t fathom though is why it can’t distinguish between Classic and NuWho. I know it’s pulling data from elsewhere but looking at the complaints about it you’d have thought they’d have come up with a fix for it by now. September 24, 2017 at 7:26 am in reply to: Please view this thread to read title. #221828 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Everyone has something to bring to this discussion, but right now I think the thing you should bring is three peoples opinions combined into one.
