Don’t get me wrong I much prefer Dead Set, but as it’s a comedy award and Dead Set is mainly horror with some comedy it’s understandable. Even so though… if we’re judging a genre of programmes should it just be on the genre slant (i.e. in this case making us laugh) or the story and situation too? Ok, I suppose Psychoville’s style of comedy is a rather acquired taste but Pulling? Really? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the programme. Some of it even made me laugh but the premise is a tad repetitive. It probably would have a more mainstream audience though so I guess it’s understandable too. It doesn’t stop me feeling a bit exasperated though. On an unrelated note, I just saw David Jason, and crikey is he looking old. Oh, and it looks like Peter Kay’s getting an award. That’ll smeg of a few people here. Heh. (I’ll admit to rather liking him though.) December 12, 2009 at 11:07 pm #106985 ChrisMParticipant I agree. Some hope of the more alternate kinds of comedy. Not that his comedy is that alternate but there’s a quirkiness not altogether mainstream. To be fair though he was doing a strikingly convincing job of looking old in the early 70s ;-) I thought it was one of the best comedy Awards I’ve seen in a while. Although there was a delicious irony that the funniest person of the night turned out to be Terry Wogan. December 13, 2009 at 11:14 am #106999 Ian SymesKeymaster Alright, Alanis. December 13, 2009 at 5:05 pm #107010 Tarka DalParticipant Don’t cha think? December 14, 2009 at 2:12 am #107015 Ben PaddonParticipant I would like Peter Kay to get a lifetime achievement award, so that someone could snipe him on stage immediately afterwards. Then he will be dead. December 15, 2009 at 12:02 am #107035 The PerformingMonkeyParticipant I like that Peter mentioned Psychoville when he went up. I also like that there was zero response to it from the audience. If they had clapped I would have been a bit worried that Reece and Steve had got too popular! Then he will be dead. Surely the Children In Need Animated All Star Band video redeems him from death? It was amazing.
