And the Ace Rimmer funeral music is so good it carries the extremely dated CGI making the scene just as emotional regardless. July 16, 2025 at 12:15 pm #308785 DaveParticipant The Gunmen credits theme is so fucking good man. Yeah if we’re allowed credits music too then I’d definitely have that one. The way it segues into the regular theme is superb. July 16, 2025 at 12:56 pm #308787 WarbodogParticipant I find the VII music too over-the-top generally. Only one I remember liking was from Kryten’s dream sequence in Duct Soup that was like an Amiga fantasy game. July 16, 2025 at 1:11 pm #308789 Ian SymesKeymaster The only problem with the Gunmen theme is it reveals how much the theme tune has in common with that of Z Cars. July 16, 2025 at 1:18 pm #308790 International DebrisParticipant I love the library music they used a few times in VII, firstly at abandoned Dallas scenes in Tikka, mostly famously at the end of Ouroboros, even if it is pretty much directly nicked from the outro of ‘Piezo’ by Autechre. Observation dome, of course. Hmm, I should have a run through the rest to see which are my favourites. Probably a good time to repost my two hour ambient Red Dwarf mix: July 16, 2025 at 2:07 pm #308793 clemParticipant ‘Space Walk’ from Confidence & Paranoia, the Prince-esque ‘Party Time’ from The Last Day, and the Gunmen theme. July 16, 2025 at 2:26 pm #308794 Android 72264YParticipant ‘Space Walk’ from Confidence & Paranoia, the Prince-esque ‘Party Time’ from The Last Day, and the Gunmen theme. Shite, how could I’ve overlooked ‘Space Walk’? Another cheeky 2001 callback. July 16, 2025 at 2:55 pm #308796 DaveParticipant ‘Space Walk’ from Confidence & Paranoia Oh, that’s a good one. July 16, 2025 at 3:04 pm #308797 RushyParticipant The variation of Tongue Tied we hear in the restaurant in Better than Life July 16, 2025 at 3:06 pm #308798 clemParticipant ‘Space Walk’ is just so dreamy and soothing. https://randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com/reddw/1/series1-spacewalk.mp3 July 16, 2025 at 3:14 pm #308799 DaveParticipant Lovely stuff. July 16, 2025 at 3:16 pm #308800 Android 72264YParticipant ‘Holly Says Goodbye’ perfectly distilled the feelings of loss and reflection in under two minutes. July 16, 2025 at 7:30 pm #308808 MoonlightParticipant The entire missiles sequence from The Beginning. July 17, 2025 at 2:55 am #308823 TechnopeasantParticipant Oh, that’s a good one. July 17, 2025 at 3:58 pm #308843 Paul MullerParticipant https://youtu.be/hAknqxPukAI?t=446 – That little guitar led bit that comes in when Lister first brings out Frankenstein. Just a lovely, melodic variation on the main tune. July 17, 2025 at 9:37 pm #308848 MeteoParticipant The “What in Tarnation?” that played when Holly first said “They’re Dead, Dave”. July 17, 2025 at 9:40 pm #308849 MoonlightParticipant The Cat priest theme is another really good one. July 18, 2025 at 6:25 am #308861 DaveParticipant The Cat priest theme is another really good one. This makes it sound like Cat Priest was a Saturday morning cartoon. July 18, 2025 at 10:55 am #308868 International DebrisParticipant I’m now hearing the Duck Tales theme with ‘Cat Priest’ as the title. July 18, 2025 at 11:10 am #308870 DaveParticipant I’m now hearing the Duck Tales theme with ‘Cat Priest’ as the title. Lost my faith and gonna die – here in, the hold All my life I’ve served a lie – I’m blind, and old My eyes grow moister… l’ll renounce Cloister… Cat Priest! Woo-oo! I burned my hat and gave up cool, I’m… Cat Priest! Woo-oo! Now I’m a slobby dying fool, I’m… Cat Priest! Woo-oo! The world’s your oyster! Watch behind you! Here comes Cloister, out to find you! What to do? Just pass away now… Cat Priest! Woo-oo! July 18, 2025 at 1:04 pm #308871 JenuallParticipant Superb. 10/10 sacred gravy marks July 19, 2025 at 1:06 am #308896 TechnopeasantParticipant You all know we’d watch that out Rob’s buttski. July 19, 2025 at 4:38 am #308901 Cardinal_HordrissParticipant The background in Holly’s SOS call in season 1. There’s a nice .melancholic tone to it. July 21, 2025 at 1:02 pm #309012 StarbuggerParticipant The entire ‘Stoke Me a Clipper’ cold open. The earnest hero music against the absurdity of Ace sky-surfing on a crocodile. July 21, 2025 at 3:52 pm #309018 Mr-StabbyParticipant The entire missiles sequence from The Beginning. With you on that one. Though it does sound more like a scratch track rather than the final cue. I think it would carried a lot more weight if it had better synths or if they had the money, some real instruments. July 22, 2025 at 2:11 am #309039 TechnopeasantParticipant if they had the money, some real instruments. Doug hadn’t bought his kazoo yet. July 22, 2025 at 2:25 am #309040 RushyParticipant We can’t forget the iconic Red Dwarf exterior music cue from every single episode of XI/XII July 22, 2025 at 3:53 am #309043 Cardinal_HordrissParticipant We can’t forget the iconic Red Dwarf exterior music cue from every single episode of XI/XII I do love that horn. It really gives emphasis to the vast size of the ship – even if it is a giant rust bucket. August 1, 2025 at 6:01 pm #309541 Android 72264YParticipant I’d be curious to find out the synths/equipment Howard used throughout Series IV-VI, I love those velvet ambient passages.
