Red Dwarf Film Theme

Here is the first draft of an extended Red Dwarf theme I created a little while ago. The idea came about after watching the fake, but very well done movie opening on Youtube.

I’ve had a go at what I would want as a Dwarf Movie Score. I tried to get a bit of Holst’s Planets kinda feel in there, mainly Mars. And if you listen closely i’ve managed to show-horn in another show theme in there. See if you can spot it…

I made it in like 5 hours so please be gentle…

The second has alot of potential, I do abit of composing myself. Its very good.

The theme I edited is of course the television theme for Red Dwarf, series 1 and 2.

I repeated two parts of it and added reverb to try and give a little sparkle to the organ, piano and drum.

It’s hardly my own creation, but it does sound more ‘cinema-esque’.

I was going to make orchestral-style versions of certain Dwarf cues
namely the observation dome music and hopefully be able to ptt hem all together into a suite or something.

I might have a go at doing that in an orchestral way. we’ll just have to see. It’s all good practise…

I prefer the remastered version of the observation dome, as it matches the Domes on the CG ‘Dwarf. Your take on a film theme is good, the repeat of the opening sections, certainly makes it feel darker. I was just waiting for it to kick in to the series III theme, ala the Remasterd series opening.
