Interesting the picked different eras for the designs. But I wouldn’t drop £100 on something that looks like it should come from a Happy Meal

It makes me wonder whether there could be a lot more Dwarf merchandise out there, though.

The Only Fools and Horses Appreciate Society seem to be advertising new stuff almost every week.

I wonder if Character Options, the lot who do the Doctor Who action figures, could tap into the collectors’ market and do some Red Dwarf action figures? I think there’d be a bit of overlap, and a lot of potential in terms of characters.

In that case, it’d be great if they could do variants from each series but I think Series IV, V, those are the versions of the characters I’d want.

Did anyone else have that Product Enterprise Starbug playset? That was excellent.

They’ve really captured that sense of the characters all attending a funeral.

It bothers me that Lister’s trapper hat looks like a turban

Kryten is the only one who looks like Kryten, and that’s only because he’s a funny shape already. And even then he looks more like the guest characters in Siliconia than he does Kryten

I’m still amazed that despite being able to get Funko Pop figures for so many TV shows, movies, comics etc no matter how niche, Red Dwarf has never had any.

I mean I know it’s American and it never really blasted off over the water but you’d think…

    Yes, that is a relief.

I think we sometimes severely over estimate how popular Red Dwarf is

Yes it is popular, but it isn’t going to shift enough Funkos to warrant making them

Agreed totally, but it is a surprise. They make the figures for just about every IP going

I just googled the most obscure funkopops and they were all much more well-known than Red Dwarf, with the possible exception of Son of Zorn whatever that is? And maybe Coming to America.

Aside from the funeral vibe, I think they’re alright? It’s difficult to get a lot of detail right at a few inches tall.

It’d be another matter if they were an official release, mind.

Should the others look like Kryten?

Does Hitler look very much like Hitler?

We have Funkos to adorn my wife’s book and DVD collections as the unremarkable uniformity actually works in that context. There was someone selling homemade ones on Etsy, but much as I wanted to I couldn’t really justify spending $290 on it and they are gone now.

I’d have probably painted an H on Rimmer…

Nevermind, there is an H there.

Hitler doesn’t look like Hitler on film, you gotta use Charlie Chaplin

Just seen painted versions of those Cozmic Scale Models from the other year and I’m not sure they’re any better tbh.

(good paint job by ‘It’s An Ashton’ on FB)
