(You may remember, we met at that party. I was the guy who explained how online demand was going to plateau with music downloads and ISPs should plan their infrastructure and financing based on that idea.) Anyway, it seems your paperbacks are proving awfully popular at the moment. Lots of those ‘young people’ are coming to read in a way they never have before. The thing is, we’re running out of space to accommodate the books – it, er, appears we chose to pay for small shop sites and cram them to the rafters rather than plan for any expansion. So, I hate to ask, but would you mind awfully paying for extensions to all our buildings? We’ll also need new shelves. As we see it, since you published the books, it’s really all your fault. April 10, 2008 at 3:33 pm #122311 Ben PaddonParticipant It really is the stupidest of stupidest situations, isn’t it? April 10, 2008 at 4:09 pm #122316 John HoareParticipant It’s people just not liking the concept of the BBC full-stop, and using ANY stick they possibly can to beat them with. Even if it makes no sense at all. April 10, 2008 at 4:24 pm #122318 AndrewParticipant It is noteworthy that they’re trying to take this to Teh Corporation specifically. Because, hey, surely ITV’s service, 4oD or, I dunno, YouTube aren’t contributing to an increase in video downloads… April 10, 2008 at 8:44 pm #122324 Seb PatrickKeymaster Absolutely fucking ludicrous. If my ISP is one of the ones pushing for this (although, with it being Be, I’d hope they’d have more sense), then I’ll seriously consider switching. April 10, 2008 at 8:45 pm #122326 Seb PatrickKeymaster Also, I thought this thread was going to be about… well, Ian and Cappsy can probably guess what I thought this thread was going to be about. PLEASE DO NOT INITIAL-CAPITALISE THE SECOND WORD OF THIS THREAD TITLE LIKE THAT AGAIN. April 10, 2008 at 8:55 pm #122328 John HoareParticipant Can I repost my hilarious picture again? April 10, 2008 at 10:05 pm #122330 Ian SymesKeymaster This one? April 10, 2008 at 10:13 pm #122331 Steve HarrisParticipant Just more evidence of the world going mad… I cant pretend to understand how all this works, how it’s financed, how it’s benefitial to the BBC and what’s in it for the average licence fee payer.. All I can see at the moment is how the licence fee is being spread about in far too many directions, programme quality is getting worse and the BBC seem to be trying to shove their fingers in far too many pies. I say, get back to basics, concentrate on what they do best and cut down on the annount of bloody channels and radio stations etc they seem to have a hand in.. On the other hand, they could always scrap shows like Dr Who, Eastenders and a few others and give us some more gardening/cookery shows. If these twats are trying to ‘extort’ money from the BBC/general public, then the BBC/Government/licence payers should say ‘up yours’ and walk away..
