Everyone agrees that Timewave is an excellent episode.

But has it ever been confirmed how, when, why (and who) they ended up reusing Vulva’s costume from Spaced (including helmet)?

Perhaps we could also discuss other props and costumes – both those appearing in Red Dwarf that have previously appeared elsewhere and those appearing elsewhere that had previously been used in Red Dwarf?

    Would that make you happy?

The mercenoid in Can of Worms was from The Rings of Akhaten, wasn’t it? They’ll know that Doctor Who fans will notice that sort of thing if anyone does, so they’re not really concerned. Especially after Doug’s experience with the movie and Back to Earth, just getting Red Dwarf on screen is enough.

The first “I” in Dave’s picture looks like a “1”.

But it’s not! Close examination reveals that it’s just an illusion.

    Remarkable, I think you’ll agree.

For the last 5 mins I was thinking that The Rings of Akhaten was the recent Lord of the Rings animated film and wondering how Red Dwarf could’ve repurposed a prop from that.

Making it solid with some weird space ray, presumably.

Rimmer’s badge in III was on the cap of  the golgafrincham captain in H2G2 upside down.

Part of the groin exploder was also in…

Torchwood, Doctor Who – part of the TARDIS console, Primeval and possibly elsewhere but I can’t remember atm.

It’s because they all get their stuff from Bob’s Bits.

From the 1987 sci-fi series ‘Star Cops’ there was this little gizmo named Box, a sort of talking handheld computer.

And as detailed here, the round table thing from the Series 1 drive room went on to appear in ChuckleVision: https://www.dirtyfeed.org/2022/07/tales-scene-dock/

Apparently this is a Series VII bazookoid in a Dead Ringers sketch. I’ve no doubt it’s hilarious.

Can one have a “squat” vagina?

Also from Star Cops, Andy in Back to Reality is wearing one of the moonbase technician’s overalls.

And before that, in Bodyswap, an upside down ESL logo from the show pops up on the mind-swapping machine, right above Lister’s head.

The Crit Cop’s uniform was from the 2015 Terry Jones film Absolutely Anything

The tank in Beyond a Joke had been in Goldeneye a couple of years previously.

The actor inside the Rimmer costume had previously been used in Carrott’s Lib.

The Coronation Street sets in Back to Earth had previously been used for Coronation Street, and have since been used for Coronation Street.

I love the way they’ve just slapped a cheap LCD kitchen timer on it for plot purposes.

Ah. While I’d class myself as a Doctor Who fan, I’ve never really delved much into any spin-off stuff. Saw the Children of Earth series when that came out, but that was it. I thought that bloke looked reasonably Torchwood-y.

I watched Primeval with my parents every week after Doctor Who. I remember nothing of it. Dinosaurs and time travel, and I spent 80% of my watchtime wondering if that lady was in S Club 7 or not. Can’t remember if she was or not. Exciting stuff.

    #308762

Hannah Speareitt was indeed in S Club 7 and Primeval

    #308791

Yeah, my three memories of Primeval are Hannah from S Club and the guy from Silicon Valets being the central stars, them having a pet baby dinosaur, and that the overall mytharc was so convoluted and obviously improvised that it made the X Files look like Breaking Bad in comparison.

I’ve just realized the greatest TV show of all of time would be to remake Breaking Bad but the main character is Fox Mulder.

Oh wait, that’s the X-Files episode Drive.

I never watched Malcolm in the Middle, and had the X-Files season 6 DVDs before any other season (and obviously watched the good episodes the most), so Breaking Bad was totally that guy from Drive at first.

And here it is on the TARDIS console. Like I said, it’s because these shows all get their machinery, tech and other stuff from Bob’s Bits.
