October 16, 2026 at 4:09 pm #328312 JenuallParticipant Another version of it here as well, which looks like it has the same content minus Gunmen, but is actually in the correct aspect ratio! https://archive.org/details/red-dwarf-2 October 16, 2026 at 5:57 pm #328316 sleepeyParticipant All sorts of Red Dwarf goodies on here October 16, 2026 at 7:04 pm #328317 PodeyParticipant God I remember how excited I was about this at the time, a whole night of Red Dwarf telly!! It was fantastic. Seems mad to me to think that there was a time when this “cult show” had a magazine, novels and an entire night of TV dedicated to it’s greatness… at least we have one of those again, today. October 16, 2026 at 7:16 pm #328318 MoonlightParticipant but is actually in the correct aspect ratio! It astounds me how bad people are at formatting 4:3 things for 4:3 on the internet. October 16, 2026 at 7:29 pm #328319 Ben SaundersParticipant I’m convinced “cult show” just means “popular, but science fiction, so only anoraks like it” October 17, 2026 at 8:24 am #328338 DaveParticipant I’m convinced “cult show” just means “popular, but science fiction, so only anoraks like it” Yeah and now that geek culture is mainstream you don’t really hear it applied to modern shows. October 17, 2026 at 11:30 am #328343 Ben SaundersParticipant It’s insane how quickly the 180 from stuff like Star Wars, Star Trek and even Lord of the Rings being for nerdy manchildren happened, I remember talking to a girl I knew when I was like 9 or something about LotR and she said “eww that’s for boys”, she liked Titanic or something. We both like Johhny English though, a true genderless movie experience. Just dodging the obligatory “girls liked that stuff too”, I know. But none of the ones I knew. I only noticed female friends of mine really getting into the MCU once Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth took their lead roles, for some unfathomable reason. There was definitely female-oriented geek stuff out there though, perhaps more in the supernatural realm like Buffy or The Craft or whatever. My brother, six years older than me, liked stuff like Buffy and Charmed, but I never got the impression that it was very popular. It must have been, though, perhaps I’m just a little young for it. October 17, 2026 at 12:12 pm #328346 DaveParticipant Yeah Charmed is another good one. That slightly new age witch-y type stuff was very big among girl friends in the 90s. October 17, 2026 at 1:19 pm #328347 WarbodogParticipant Buffy was a unifying sensation, I think pretty much everyone my age I knew who was into anything alternative watched it because it had the horror/fantasy/teen/comedy/action crossover appeal, plus it was actually high quality. Yeah, and for me being a longtime comics fan you could clearly see the DNA of Spider-Man and X-Men in it.
