Are soaps shit, is the BBC news treason, that sort of thing. An early BiteBack, basically. Presented by Anna Ford, Robert Jessell, and presumably to represent the kids, Craig Charles. Here’s an episode from December 1987. Apart from one line he does nothing until half an hour in when he essentially hosts an episode of Points of View. And then disappears off the face of the earth. He’s not even credited as a presenter, just “Additional Material”. Skip to 28:24 or so for his bit. If nothing else it’s better than Funky Bunker, although I do regret that he doesn’t sign off with “Awooga”. Hadn’t been invented yet in 1987, I suppose.
