    Since it appears that Seb’s got a review up on Film4 it seems only decent to plug that first;

    As it is, I’d have been tempted to give it the full five stars myself. Obviously liking Blur is pretty essential to getting everything out of the film, but I was genuinely suprised by just how much heart, humour and new anecdotes the film managed to get across. It did come across a little bit arrogant at times, but it wouldn’t be representative of Blur if it hadn’t. Plus the music is fantastic, scattering tracks from right throughout the back catalogue so in the last 20 minutes you get to hear both Sing from the 1st Lp and Tender from ’13’.

    Has anyone else seen it? It does seem a bit of a blink and you’ll miss it release.

    Fun trivia fact: I originally gave it four stars but my editor said it read more like 3 or 3.5, and did I want to change it? I’m not usually one for half-stars (if you want to use half stars, then mark out of ten instead!) but 3 seemed a bit harsh. It’s a good film, and tremendously enjoyable if you actually like the band (and, as I say in the review, who DOESN’T nowadays?)

    I’m a massive Blur fan and had tickets for one of the Hyde Park gigs but couldn’t go.

    I had no idea this film existed and somehow that makes me feel old.

    Good review, but to be fair I would have sought this out if you had written “Why did we bother? Should’ve stayed away”

    in the last 20 minutes you get to hear both Sing from the 1st Lp and Tender from ?13?.

    Plus “The Universal”. I spent much of the last part of the film thinking “They’ve bloody left it out!”, but it turns out they were saving it for the big triumphant montage. Considering it was pretty much ignored on its release (should have been their big winter #1, barely scraped top ten) and indeed that they nearly never recorded it due to Justine hating it, I’m glad it’s taken its rightful place in their canon (they even finished Hyde Park with it) – what with it being pretty much the greatest record ever made, and all.

    The Universal is truly awesome tune. It’s just overused a lot in adverts…

    Blur have been in the studio recording new material!

    …But it’s only one new track, released on vinyl and limited to 1000 copies.

    So why did you choose to change it?
