Also, hello. We can post new threads again because I alerted the staff it was broken. And yes, this is Katydid. Just syncing up my username across all platforms. May 16, 2021 at 5:06 pm #266614 MoonlightParticipant I deliberately leave my avatar generally always the same on any given platform to save people confusion. I know too many people on Discord who change both their name and avatar constantly and you have no idea who they are. It’s clearly never occurred to them to do the “Nickname (Regular Name)” format that lets you keep a nickname of the week without confusing people. I’ve legitimately found people after months of not talking to them because they changed their name / picture and got lost in the DM history. Goddammit, stop hiding from me. You’ll always be Dana Scully to me. Good, because I also don’t believe UFOs are alien spaceships or that ghosts are real or that mystical nonsense is scientifically valid. The difference is I’m right. Except Dana kept getting presented with irrefutable proof for 8 years and kept denying it. May 16, 2021 at 6:05 pm #266616 MoonlightParticipant Thanks for explaining my joke to me. Your check will be in the mail. May 16, 2021 at 6:15 pm #266617 RidleyParticipant The truth is in there. That’s what turned quinn into a zoney. May 16, 2021 at 6:23 pm #266618 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Thanks for explaining my joke to me. Your check will be in the mail. My check what? May 16, 2021 at 6:25 pm #266619 Spaceworm JimParticipant She said “the check’s in the mail and I’ll see you in church, and don’t you ever change.” May 16, 2021 at 7:09 pm #266620 DaveParticipant Thanks for explaining my joke to me. Your check will be in the mail. My check what? Is this still the opening line? May 16, 2021 at 9:43 pm #266621 International DebrisParticipant But is the Universe sentient? May 16, 2021 at 10:45 pm #266622 Ian SymesKeymaster It lost, btw. May 16, 2021 at 10:50 pm #266623 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant It lost, btw. WHO THE FUCK TO? Afterlife or Sex Education? May 16, 2021 at 10:57 pm #266624 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Ok it is Sex Education. That is the better of the two but still, fucking hell. Who though filming in a British mansion and dressing like you’re in America would constitute design award worthiness. May 17, 2021 at 3:56 am #266625 MoonlightParticipant This is still newsworthy, if only to give us a central article in which to coordinate mob justice from the comments section. May 17, 2021 at 11:20 am #266628 JenuallParticipant To be fair Sex Education is a great show from a visual/design perspective. I know that many people have complained about this aspect of it but I have to say I absolutely adore the setting and style that they have gone for – the anachronisms, the bizarre hybrid US/UK illustration of what education and its settings are like, the fact that it makes out that the UK is always warm and sunny and somehow manages to get away with it etc. If nothing else I just enjoy the belief that at some point during production there was an internal discussion along the lines of: “We want to make it feel like this is a place out of time so need to find a filming location that hasn’t moved on much since the 1970s” “Stick it in South Wales then!” May 17, 2021 at 1:02 pm #266630 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Oh I really like it too don’t get me wrong. But I don’t understand how, for a “light entertainment show” Red Dwarf wouldn’t immediately clinch any design award just for sets alone, let alone everything else that goes into it. May 17, 2021 at 1:34 pm #266632 JenuallParticipant “It’s just a bunch of milk crates and MDF that someone has slapped some paint on” is probably what goes through most people’s heads when they think about a sci-fi set! I don’t know the ins and outs of the BFDG but there’s probably a fair amount of the usual anti-sci-fi bias going on as well sadly May 17, 2021 at 11:27 pm #266653 MoonlightParticipant “It’s just a bunch of milk crates and MDF that someone has slapped some paint on” is probably what goes through most people’s heads when they think about a sci-fi set! I’m pretty sure you deserve an award for making that look good in the first place.
