Maybe it’s like how Return of the King was the one that won all the Oscars: because it came last, it was seen as the one to represent the achievement of the whole series, despite the fact that THE FIRST WAS THE BEST.

Return Of The King was frequently criticised for having a succession of overlong, drawn-out endings, which probably disqualifies it from being a metaphor for anything in series XI.

I found among work colleagues, family and friends (all casual viewers) that everyone really liked it. My mate who went to a couple of the XII recordings with me thought that it was clearly the best of XI so definitely some vastly different viewpoints around.

I love The Lord Of The Rings movies but have you listened to the BBC radio version?

When faced with a majority of the criticisms of Can of Worms (the strange plot decisions, too many ideas, missed opportunities) I can’t really disagree with any of that. But it did make me laugh, almost more then any other episode this year, and at the end of the day that’s about the most important thing a comedy show can do, I think.
