It’s Christmas! News Posted by John Hoare on 4th December 2005, 22:35 Well, it clearly isn’t. But to get into the Christmas spirit, we thought we’d blatantly break copyright. Again. For your listening pleasure: Santa Claus Is On The Dole 12″ [8.3MB MP3] Lyrics by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, and released in November 1986, it peaked at 22 in the charts. Should have been far, far higher, but then you’re speaking to someone whos first two record purchases when they were five were Living Doll with The Young Ones and Cliff Richard, and The Chicken Song…
And to think I picked it up on 7″ for 20p in a charity shop just this last week. Funnily enough, I’d completely forgotten about its existence, but when I saw it on top of a stack of records I thought “Ooh, I bet I know who wrote the lyrics to that”, and when I saw their names on the inner label it turned into a must-buy. Erm, irrespective of the song’s quality ;-)
Whoops. Fixed. Ta, Ghostie. 12 was just a temp number I forgot to change. I love the song as well. All hail the Comedy Police.
