How Music Works With Howard Goodall; 8.25pm TONIGHT News Posted by Tanya Jones on 18th November 2006, 12:28 A big thanks to Smeghead2044 on BTLi for giving a heads up on this new series from Howard Goodall on Channel 4 tonight at 8.25pm. Howard’s past series on music was fabulous, and I expect no less from this. Hopefully it’ll be repeated, as me and John are making a rare visit to the cinema tonight to see Casino Royale…
It was wonderful, as interesting as his past ones were! I rarely watch TV anymore, so I didn’t know if I was going to remember/be bothered to watch it, but thankfully my hubby came home and switched on the telly, because we both really enjoyed it (the Bond theme special that followed it was fun as well). :)
>(the Bond theme special that followed it was fun as well). :) I’m not a big Bond fan but that does actually sound like it could be interesting.
>(the Bond theme special that followed it was fun as well). :) VERY decent documentary. Even a couple of things a Bond fan like me didn’t know. They made no bones about the horrible ways the songs are sometimes chosen (David Arnold built his score for Tomorrow Never Dies on a song he wrote, expecting that to be the main title track. Then they chose Sheryl Crowe’s instead and dumped his over the end credits with a new name. That story wasn’t news, but there are loads like it, and they dipped into most of ’em. How Madonna’s godawful racket placed so high, though – that I can’t explain.
> I?m not a big Bond fan but that does actually sound like it could be interesting. I’m not really, either, but it did get into a lot of interesting stuff about the creative process behind the various themes, the different artists who had written/performed rejected themes, and other related trivia. And it was nice to be reminded of some great old songs as well.
Now, 6:20pm isn’t a bad slot. But WHY START IT AFTER 8pm IF YOU’RE GOING TO SHUNT IT BACK FROM THEN ON?! As a result, I’m missed the first half, and it’s not even repeated on More4, let alone C4…
This is repeated on More4 in double-bills this Thursday from 9:00pm-11:05pm, and next Thursday at the same time.
