Am I allowed to open this up here? Really interested to hear what you guys think of the various episodes thus far.

Seems Goodnight Sweetheart has had the most universal acclaim of the 4 on BBC One.

For RD links, Howard Goodall will be performing classic theme tunes for one of the rounds on the sitcom-based panel show “We Love Sitcom” on Friday. (The show itself looks dreadful, but hopefully Dwarf will come up somewhere in all of this.)

Goodnight Sweetheart is the only one I’ve watched and I thought it was great. I’d love them to make a new series now, which is clearly the intention.

With Keeping Up Appearances, i had this weird dream once where Hy calls herself Bouquet and someone grabs hold of her and shakes her going “You’ve got to f*ck it, Bucket, got to, f*ck it, Bucket!”

Was it as good as Richard Herring’s proposed ‘Goodnight ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ Sweetheart’ which was set to feature Nick Lyndhurst traveling back in time to visit the set of Goodnight Sweetheart?

Serious point – a lot of revivals I find the cast haven’t got the intensity delivering the dialogue that they once had. Partly the fault of the director. I watch ’em and think “kick these actors up the arse”, they need to speed up the delivery and don’t let up on the jokes. Put the foot on the accelerator and go for it!

Now for Goodnight Sweetheart, there WAS a surprising intensity to the delivery of the dialogue – which was most welcome. Good job by Martin Dennis, and a good script from Marks & Gran.

Nothing could be as good as the *idea* of that.

Mind you, regular “Goodnight Sweetheart” at is absolute worst is exponentially better than “Time Gentleman, Please” at its absolute best.

Oh, NOW you all want an end to the licence fee.

There’s a rather good-looking documentary on the history of sitcoms on BBC4 tonight, BTW…
