Now here’s an ITV reality show that we’re certainRed Dwarf star is taking part in. It’s been officially announced that Craig Charles is one twelve former I’m A Celebrity campmates taking part in the new series of IACGMOOH… South Africa. This is a spin-off of the popular celebrity eats bugs / gets bugs poured on their head / puts their hand in a container of bugs format, but shorter and pre-recorded, meaning that Craig’s second stint in the jungle is already in the can. When he first took part back in 2014, his time on the show was tragically cut short due to the death of his brother after just a few days, so we’re glad he’s got the chance to have another go at it.

Among the other returning contestants are Sir Mo Farah, Harry Redknapp, David Haye, Gemma Collins, Sinitta and Beverley Callard, best known for playing Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, where one of her short-term boyfriends was the granny-grabbing, philandering taxi driver Lloyd Mullaney, as played by Craig Charles. The series starts on Monday 6th April on ITV 1 and ITVX.

Hopefully Craig will have to dip his hand into a can of worms at some point.

  • Just watched the first episode. Craig wasn’t in it. Turns out he’s a late entrant, so tune in tonight if you want to see Craig Charles compete with Gemma Collins to see who’s better at eating animal genitalia.

  • Just watched the latest episode, where the celebrities took part in ‘Balance of Power’. Hoping for more challenges named after Red Dwarf episodes in the final week, such as Duct Soup (crawling through horrible slimy critter-infested tunnels), Entangled (spiders webs), and White Hole (anus-eating contest).

  • Craig has made it through to the final five, which means he gets to take part in the Cyclone trial on tonight’s show, which is pretty much the highlight of the series.

  • Cyclone completed successfully, Craig then survived the final elimination and is officially a finalist. The live final is tonight at 7:30pm, and the winner is determined by public vote. You can vote for him here, if you like – it’s free but you have to register.

He won’t win, of course, that will be Harry Redknapp, but he’s done extremely well in the show and been a key part of the series amongst some extremely strong personalities.

  • I actually made an exception to my usual habits last night and watched the episode (not live of course, I watched Taskmaster first as I trust everyone does). It was OK.

Naturally I’ve put my full support behind Craig. ✊ I dare any Redknapp supporter to look me in the eyes and tell me he genuinely deserves to beat the egg catching MVP.

The note “Armando has started to look like a politician having a breakdown in Westminster” was a highlight.
