ALABAMA – FX channle Sci Fi comedy pilot

Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant have shot a sci fi comedy pilot for FX cable in the USA called Alabama (The name a future starship). By this quote it certainly sounds pretty Dwarf/Darkstar in setting…

“We want it to basically feel like “Das Boot”. Like we’re on a ship that’s constantly leaking and everybody’s sweaty in tank tops. Technically no one on the ship is supposed to have sex with each other for the entire 7 years of the mission, but male and female…everyone on the ship showers together. So it leads to lots and lots of sexual tension basically.”

Though I’ve a feeling it will be more sketch like and much sillier in humour.
As beyond their hollywood script writing on things like “night at the museum” they are the dumb cops of cable comedy Reno 911 which ended about a year ago. Like that show it comes from improv comedy background with loose scripting, and the same approach would be for this on a low budget if it gets a series.
