October 20, 2009 at 1:32 pm #105110 Seb PatrickKeymaster If there were going to be one, I imagine we’d have seen it by now – 2010 calendars are already all over the shops… October 20, 2009 at 5:01 pm #105113 GwynnieParticipant Someone make one! October 20, 2009 at 5:03 pm #105114 hummingbirdParticipant Shall we do a month each? October 20, 2009 at 5:08 pm #105115 GwynnieParticipant There may be too many of us. But we could use this thread to suggest pictures for each month, and then someone will the know-how could get it made! :) October 20, 2009 at 5:42 pm #105116 siParticipant Don’t Dave have some kind of merchandising arm that could do a BtE one? October 20, 2009 at 6:10 pm #105118 hummingbirdParticipant If so then they’ve missed the boat, it’s far too late for a 2010 calendar now. I like the idea of a fan-made calendar. Maybe we could all submit pics/suggestions/captions, etc and then take a vote for the 12? It doesn’t have to be straight RD pic, it could be original artwork or a cartoon or whatever. October 20, 2009 at 6:12 pm #105119 RidleyParticipant Just put the crew’s heads on the bodies of the Coronation Street one. October 20, 2009 at 6:18 pm #105120 siParticipant You want drawings? I’ve got a few. Have a neb at http://www.geocities.com/plug92001/jmc_art.html and let me know what you like. October 22, 2009 at 12:53 pm #105149 siParticipant I’m sure you’ll all be pleased to know I’ve found the big carrierbag of TV listings magazines from April, containing the Radio Times, TV Times, What’s On TV, TV Quick, TV Easy, TV and Satellite Week… There are 29 different ‘new’ photographs altogether, although some of the best ones are, annoyingly, too small to draw. :( October 22, 2009 at 2:19 pm #105150 littlesmeggerParticipant try scanning them at a high resolution and then print them again to make larger copies. wont be perfect, but probably good enough to achieve what you’re wanting. October 22, 2009 at 2:43 pm #105153 DaveParticipant Thirty days hath September, April, June, November and September; Of twenty-eight there is but one, and all the rest have thirty-one Except Geldof which has at least 27 October 22, 2009 at 3:20 pm #105154 JamesTCParticipant What about Smarch? October 22, 2009 at 3:33 pm #105155 Danny StephensonKeymaster or Julember? October 22, 2009 at 4:18 pm #105156 siParticipant >What about Smarch? For March get Smarch. October 22, 2009 at 11:07 pm #105168 JoParticipant ISWYDT ;o) October 23, 2009 at 1:04 pm #105177 siParticipant Thank you. I enjoyed it. October 23, 2009 at 1:34 pm #105178 Nick RParticipant The version I learned has an old-fashioned ending which no-one else I know seems to use: 30 days hath September April, June and November All the rest have 31 Except February alone which has but 28 days clear And 29 in each leap year The “clear” might be a bit of a filler word, but it works! I was yelling that version at the TV screen when the mnemonic was mentioned on QI and Alan Davies finished on “Except February” then complained about it not rhyming. :( October 23, 2009 at 1:41 pm #105179 TheLeenParticipant Mnemonics only work if the clue is in the rhyme! Anyway, the way I learnt from my mum: Make two fists and put them together in front of your body. Start left, count your knuckles & valleys between them, each being one month. Left hand Jan – knuckle Feb – valley Mar – knuckle Apr – valley May – knuckle June – valley July – knuckle Right hand Aug – knuckle Sep – valley … The outy bits say 31 days and the inny bits say “less than that, usually 30” and the February bit I was just about able to memorize. October 23, 2009 at 1:50 pm #105180 siParticipant We always used to say “30 days hath September, April, June and dull November, All the rest have 31, excepting February, 28.” There was a version which had a leap year bit on the end, but, let’s face it, all in all, it’s a shit rhyme. October 23, 2009 at 2:25 pm #105181 DaveParticipant >Right hand >Aug – knuckle >Sep – valley >? Don’t keep us in suspense, how does it end? October 23, 2009 at 4:33 pm #105185 PhilParticipant The version I learned was February has 28 days Except on leap years when it has another Everything else has more than that Very helpful, and it rhymes in its native Russian. November 4, 2009 at 9:33 am #105571 PetetranterssisterParticipant Oh no i thought they did a calender every year?? i have the 2009 one and i love it, especially the month where kryten is holding his groinal attachtment!
